or replace rivets if the stringers are riveted to the tops of the ribs by blinds and are not tight.

Its fine i really dont care. I just thought it was funny because this started as a rough up gluvit and throw in a hand full of pop rivets re gluvit and paint then go float around. Now its a complete re do

Up to you.

If you'd like a title change, any Mod can do that too. Just post whatever you'd like it changed to.

That's the way it goes. A couple of rivets here and a little sealer there and there next thing ya know, the boat id scattered all over in pieces. LOL

Like JB said - If you want a title change, just put the new title in here or PM one of us. Might even speel things right. :D

So transom says its rated to 240 hp on plate starcraft put on. when i bought it came with paper work from transport canada small vessel compliance program. (Svcp) non pleasure craft . It reads 250hp. Id like to be able to put a simaler weight 300 hp motor on it . Now that im doing the transom is there a way i can beef it up and make sure its safe. I guess its a old beat up water taxi. one guy i saw at the marina remembered it from when he used to log on north vancover island as there water taxi.

300 HP? That's 600 pounds of outboard on a 1700 pound boat and way more power than you can practically use in my opinion. I think you'd have trim issues at low speed. A 175-225 would be more than enough. These boats are light. Even a 150 would be fine.

I just did a google image search for "Starcraft Islander 221 outboard" and almost all of them have single 150's.

To safely up the rating you would need a longer, deeper and wider boat. OB's are way different that IOs the way the HP is applied to the boat and the effect that the weight has being on the outside hanging out the back rather than inside resting on the hull. I would say 200 HP is more than enough.

If you're wanting to use solid rivets then you'll need

Brazier head
3/16" diameter
3/8' length for 2 layers and 7/16' for 3 layers
2117T4 alloy

I get mine at the link below but shipping is killer so make an order for all the rivets including blinds you'll need for the decking and other jobs.
http://rivetsonline.com/solid-alumin...2-to-3-16.html

Of course you'll need a 3/16" brazier head rivet set, air hammer and compressor. If setting the rivets below the waterline I recommend using 5200 to seal them.

Clean the area up and post the pic again from both sides.
