Day 10 - i lay out all the pieces and measure them. I also indicate if they are covered by carpet or vinyl.
I also find more foam

Day 10 - new problem - some sort of rubber coating on the aluminum. Have much difficulty cleaning it off

Day 11 - try to manually remove rubber coating. I also have located an outboard and am going to go do an inspection

Day 11 - outboard visit. I came accross 1 owner low hour Mercury 2 stroke. The store , illness and racoon damage discouraged the owner from boating. The motor has been sitting for 15 years under cover

Day 12 - rubber removal still an issue. Tried wire brush, scraper and acetone. So far only industial stripper has an effect

Making good progress. That stringer damage makes another good case against pour in foam in my mind.

Is the rubberized coating the factory seam sealer? If so maybe it's better just cleaned up and left if not leaking.

Questions,
1. What's wrong with the Evinrude in the before pics?
2. I see the two ribs down the keel, do the ones seen in the bow run the full length also?

Looks to me like someone came off some waves mighty hard at some time in the past,...

I'd say the foam added to the structural soundness that kept the boat from bending on impact,...

I think I read in one of the resto threads that Xylene worked to remove that rubbery stuff.

Day 15 - start of bew stringers. As a wonderful surprise, my good fishing buddy dropped off some metal for me. Unbelivable!!!
I am going to cut out the bad metal and overlay the weak metal.
