Re: Starcraft 1976-Mrnr 21 0/b restoration/Rebuild

Well Hello all, Nothing in the way of an update right now for my project. Borrowed my dad's pressure washer the other day to use on the inside of the hull. Well everything started out great got it home and it wouldn't crank. so I did the logical and drained the gas and put new in, she fired right up. This thing hadn't been used maybe 5 times since new. Any way started out hitting the driveway with it just seeing how it would work. It worked fine so after removing the transom wood in the boat last week I could see some nasty scum where the wood was and hit that with the pressure washer.... Made it look nice didn't use anything but the water with the pressure washer. I might have run the PW for about 20 mins or so, SWMBO calls me in for a samwich. Well after eating I go back out and start up the pressure washer and well after about 30 seconds of it running, harrumph it locks up. Oh well going to get a new motor I guess. It was seized up on the flywheel side of the crank (no bearings in this motor) it's just a small Honda 5 HP GC160. Can get a new one for 179.99 from Northern Tool But they also have another brand called Power Horse (Northern Tool house brand) and it is a sleeved motor and has bearings easier to repair later down the road, for 149.99 have to wait till Monday or Tuesday for it though. OK that's about it for now guy's sorry no pics or anything better for an update. I swear I take a step froward and end up three steps back.:(

JimbC, looks like the younger twin to my boat. Mine is lacking the center stringer that yours has but short of that, very much the same. What thickness of decking are you planning on using?

Not sure on the thickness yet. As this is what I will be putting in http://www.nyloboard.com/ instead of wood. Yes I was so glad to find your post was nice to see what my boat was missing, as you can see in my pics my boat is lacking quit a few parts. Bow Rail, and CC.

Re: Starcraft 1976-Mrnr 21 0/b restoration/Rebuild

OK small update to mine. Got the engine hoist rented. Well was building the O/B motor stand first, In the middle of the project I realized it has been like 7 or 8 years since I have done any carpentry work..... Man are my carpentry skill rusty....... Well the carpentry skills I thought I had anyway, Had the motor stand all built except for the casters on it and realized it was leaning in the opposite direction of what was on dh4winn79's plans  WTF
then I had to stare at them for a moment ...OK a few minutes.:( till I realized what boards I had backwards. So I went ahead and took off to the rental just in time before they closed to get the hoist. OH well you can see the stand all taken apart in the last pic.:D I've got to put it back together so I can hang this TOWER O POWER. Also noticed some pretty nasty corrosion up under the transom bracket on the motor. OK back to work. I will post new pics of the motor on the stand later waiting on the drill batteries to charge.
