Every year we bring our boat around from Lake Monroe to Daytona Beach. We spend the night in Jacksonville and hit St. Augustine about noon on day 2. We normally spend 3-4 days there (until our livers give out), and then head to DB.

Any other boaters want to try to set some time aside for a dock party at the Municipal Marina? We would have a window of about 3 days to pick from sometime either at the end of May to mid-June. We haven't set aside the dates yet to bring the boat around.

Let me know any thoughts. I'll update this thread if it dies between now & then.

Re: St. Augustine in May/June?!?

Been thinking about April/May to go down the ACF to The Gulf. Still need to get charts. My wife and I plan on making the trip several times throughout the season. If we do it mid-April, I'm sure a month or so later won't be too soon;). Wouldn't commit to anything at this point, but it sounds great, and very doable:).

We'll need to talk more about that canvas enclosure, too.

Would love to meet up, but won't this put you on the wrong side of Florida? Or, (better yet), you don't care and you'll get there when you get there...

Sounds great! Bringing that big beast up, a smaller one, or driving?

I don't know, fireman, The lady would like to go to GA islands around that time of year. We have a place to stay at St. Simons Isl and I guess it would depend on her. Never been into St. August. by boat but have stopped at Mayport Marine in J-ville several times for fuel and a night stay.

Stay tuned and we will stay in touch.

Don't know what's up, but this is the second time I'm posting my reply to you, Fireman. I just saw that Sasto replied, so I looked to see what he had to say, and my reply was no longer here. So I'll try it again...

In case you reply before I check out the distance and routes, how far are we talking? I don't see it as being a problem, regardless. You and Sasto are already in... Maybe we can make it an iboats get together. Would the Municipal Marina support something like this?

Wow:redface:... That's not just "the wrong side of Florida"... That's THE WRONG SIDE OF FLORIDA!!!

Holy cow. I honestly don't know that I'd be able to afford the gas to boat around the entire state of Florida:confused:. When you said wrong side, I figured, ahh, how bad can it be? It's pretty far, Fireman. I'll talk to my wife and see if I don't get a black eye... I mean, uhh, See what she says... Yeah, that's what I meant, see what she says:rolleyes:. Seriously, though, it's still not out of the question. Ooh, that's scary...

Re: St. Augustine in May/June?!?

St. Augustine is approx 30 miles south of Jacksonville, right at the inlet. It would be a longer ride and obviously higher fuel bill, but think of the pictures and the stories to tell about the river trip all over the state of Florida in the spring. How many people get to do that? Use it as a vacation if you're not pressed for time. Then again, you could always drive over for the day, but where's the fun in that?

I don't know if the Marina would technically support a get together, but they always have more than enough room for boats to come in transiently. As far as the dock party, I can only assume that they would have a problem if we got too loud. Hoerver, last year, we berthed next to a 40' boat with 8 peopleon it who were partying day and night, swimming at the docks, and drinking beer at 8:00 am...they never said a word.

It sould be a blast if we could get 10-12 people there.

Re: St. Augustine in May/June?!?

The florida power boat club uses the municipal marina every year for their Daytona to St Augustine poker run.

I've done it twice.

The marina reserved a section of the docks just for the club and was real helpful.

I'm interested.

We could run up and meet you and then run down together to Daytona/ Smynra.

We should put something together since we don't have TD anymore.

Looking forward to meeting you, then you can talk me into finishing that H2 lift, if it isn't done by then! I love that trip from St. Augustine to DB! I would do it once a week if I could. Also, we'll be at Disappearing Island every weekend (again) throughout the summer.

Re: St. Augustine in May/June?!?

RentProp1 just started another thread in this forum wondering if there was going to be a Central Florida get together this spring...what a coincidence! I replied and posted a link to this thread.

Spread the word! Let's see if we can get thrown out of the marina!

thanks for the link Fireman, I helped plan the event at Crystal River last year, I haden't heard of Bob's ( Tashasdady ) passing, I actually havent been on the forum in about 5 months, just been busy with life, St Augustine is a little far for me, over 3 hours via trailer.....we had scouted several other locations on the west central FL side of the state for options for last year and to plan for this year, some places we wanted to check out near the Suwannee River near Old Town, but Crystal River will be hard to beat.......we'll have to see what happend

OK, my wife mentioned the St. John's River. Is this the river you're referring to when you say river trip around the State of Florida?

From Appalachacola, where I'll be navigating down to from Georgia via The ACF River System, where do I go from there? Havn't gotten the charts, nor mapped anything out yet. Guess it's time to start getting busy, huh? About how far are we talking? It looks to me like I'd have to travel the entire perimeter of Florida, down to The Keys and back up, to get from Appalachacola Bay to St. Augustine. Please tell me I'm wrong. Being wrong would make me very happy right now.

Hi veritas honus, You would exit the Gulf at Ft. Myers and take the Okeechobee Waterway to Stuart. Pass my place and head north on the ICW. I've done it many times in 10hrs or less.

Good Luck!

Three hours by trailer? That's too far?? I once drove from Daytona to Key West for a beer! 3 hour drive over in the morning, party all day, spend the night, 3 hours back home. Sounds like an easy trip to me!

Re: St. Augustine in May/June?!?

VH...you could come down from Ga and straight into St. Augustine. Hang for a day or two there, then head out to Appalachacola. Might be a bit quicker than the other way, but I haven't mapped it out yet. Look at Google Earth. You can run a line from point-to-point and it will give you statute miles.
