Dont band-aid it. 5.0 never big enough for the boat. Plan on 350 or 383 and be done with it or get different boat.

I’d try a 15 pitch prop due to your max WOT rpm being too low. Try to get as close to 5,000 rpm as you can. Ultimately though the best solution is more displacement, a 23 foot boat is big/heavy for a 5 liter.

No it was a 3 blade quicksilver 19p to a 3 blade Turning Point 17p. Both aluminum. Not confident enough in my boating to do stainless yet.

And no I haven’t weighed the boat but I know she’s a heavy girl.
Seems strange you're not getting more RPMs out of the TP 17p.

With an older boat, getting a weight will tell you whether you have any water logged foam. Doesn't take much to make her a dog.

Yeah for sure. It certainly might be the chop of the lake and that I’m still learning to trim up properly as I’m on plane.

Or eBay

@Scott Danforth I just ordered this manifold, and the 805359T bracket.

At summit racing, I have these in my wishlist/cart:

Fel-Pro Intake Manifold Gaskets MS9800T
Edelbrock Marine Carburetors 1409
Summit Racing Carburetor Spacer SUM-G1412 (1" 4-Hole)
Summit Racing Carburetor Stud Kit SUM-G1421 (2.7" long)

Anything else I need for the conversion? Just have to figure out the fuel line I guess.

Thanks!

Hard line is preferred, if you want to use rubber you should use approved marine line…Sierra sells one you can just buy…

When I installed a 1409 on my 4.3L with a performa intake, I also purchased the Airtex fuel pump that matched one of the original OEM pumps. This let me buy the stainless hard fuel line and pump mount bracket from Merc. Makes for a clean setup. Not sure what you will have to go through to figure out if there is a Merc line you can use. The 1409 is the exact same carb as the Merc standard Weber. If you can troll around the parts diagrams you might find what you need.fuel system.jpg

And sometimes you will find parts like that on eBay or NLA Marine if the parts have been discontinued. I was able to find almost everything (hard line, manifold adapter for Holley 4bbl) even for my OMC. For Merc it should be easy.
