That stuff looks nice and I found some on summit as well. Any idea how long I'd need? Those sierra lines are 25"
If you have a mercarb with the fuel inlet on the left side when you face the carb and your existing line may work.

When I did a 4.3/mercarb to 5.0 /eddelbrock repower I used the the pump off the 4.3 and the existing fuel line (both 3/8" flare). As seen in ricks photo it has a short flex section swaged into the metal end tubing. I needed to stretch mine about 3-4" because the block is longer. I carefully used a cut of wheel to cut the swaged clamps off, put a longer section of marine hose in there and used two fuel injection hose clamps on each end. The stock merc hose has barbed fittings on the ends of the tubs where it meets the hose. The hose is just marine hose with a woven scuff cover.

Given the fact you already have a V8 your hose may be long enough or can be stretched like I did.

Hey All! New register to iBoats, and sorry for the long-winded post, but I've been searching and reading since I got my boat back in early July. This is my first boat but I'm a pretty big car/motorcycle junkie. It's a 99 Rinker Captiva 232 Cuddy w/ 5.0L TB5 (0L096199) and a SEI16 drive (assuming Alpha One Gen II replacement). At first we were getting maybe 38-42ish on speedo, so I suspected some issues... Being that I didn't know how well the previous owner took care of it, I figured I should do the standard tune up. I did an oil/filter change, fuel filter change, distributor cap & rotor, new NGK TR5 plugs gapped at 0.045, and sierra 8mm wires.

First time out after those changes, it seemed to run well, but didn't gain any RPM and during the trip back to the launch, the coil wire popped off the coil pack and it was misfiring. Next day, I put in a MSD Blaster 2 (8202) coil and we also switched the prop out for a Turning Point 14.25 x 17P and 701 hub.

Back out, we were now seeing about 4200-4400 and 39-40mph (GPS on iPhone) on pretty choppy Lake Ontario, The motor ran very strong and everything seems to be good, but I want a little more out of it. The motor plate obviously says 4400-4800, so I'm just at the low end of that.

After reading the sticky threads on WOT RPM, I'm thinking the only thing left to check is if the throttle cable is allowing the carb to go fully open. Besides that, and since I'm not ready to investigate swapping a 350 short block into it, I was thinking a summit racing intake manifold and Edelbrock 1409 carb.

Thanks!

I never bothered to read all the posts, but
First is the engine in good condition Mechanically? Compression #s
As for getting more power out of the 5 liter, it is not known for its Torque producing ability, which you need in a 23 footer. You are currently over propped, and need to get the RPMs up
If you want to get the best out of a 4bbl, I suggest the Spreadbore 650 Holley markets for Marine engines, the small Primaries will help the Hole Shot
Edelbrock makes Marine Intakes. This one looks very similar to the One Volvo puts on its 305/350

That said, it would be more Cost Effective to repower with a 350 or a Stroked version of it

I think you're doing really well with that boat / engine combination. I wouldn't expect much more.
I have a 2004 Rinker 232 Captiva. I have a Merc 350 Mag and a B3 outdrive. The fastest I can get out of my boat is 55 MPH on a GPS. That's with one adult, one child, and a full tank of fuel.
You have 80 less HP, a less efficient outdrive, and more weight than that situation and you're doing 40 couple MPH. That seems pretty good.
I specifically looked for a boat with the Mag 350 as a minimum, I really would have liked to have a big block. It's unfortunate that boat manufacturers build so many under powered boats like that.
