Should we start a pole when the nominees are collected?

Sounds good to me!!!

Maybe we can have posters "nominate" someone/some boat and wax poetic about them - then we can throw a poll up......

If it isn't too much trouble it would be nice to see all nominee's listed with a picture of the boat and link to the coresponding resto thread. I have gone through many of the threads in the restoration sticky and the quality work and number of boats is overwhelming!

Re: Splash of the Year Time!!!!

Thanks to Clark for inventing this trophy and to NorthBeach for not keeping it but graciously passing it the the next winner.

Here are the nominees;

I'm going to try and post a link and a picture of the nominees. I hope this works.

Oh yea it did. I'll do them all, on at a time.

I'll try and do 2-3 a day. Bear with me, I've got a lot going and have a special needs (autistic) kid at home. Sometimes life is a bit hectic. If I'm too slow and someone wants to take this over I'll move aside. There's my 2 for today.:p

One more thing; Look the boats over by clicking on the link (their name) one picture does NOT do these boats justice. Look, drool, dream. Then talk and talk and talk, then vote.

Note to Nominees:
If there is a another picture that you think better represents your boat, I'll be glad to replace the current pic. PM me a let me know where the picture is

Re: Splash of the Year Time!!!!

It's time to wrap this up guys. I need to add Jasoutside's Jet-Star as soon as I can find a picture of it. I've been looking through his 1,000 post restoration thread and I can't seem to find a full side or 3/4 side shot of it. As soon as I get an hour or two I'll start going through it. Jason, put up a picture of the Jet-Star please, then we'll start the process. This has been a great year.

And the winner is...........

I'm still sticking with Bret, totally awesome!

I know it was last year but without a doubt...

Bret built an absolutely amazing little boat:)

Just my opinion, hands down the nicest Starcraft project here on the site.

+1 on Brett's Ski Champ. A very close second is TPG's Nassau, aka Darth Vader's personal watercraft. Honarable mention, Howza's Kingfisher, amazing workmanship. CBGale2 red Falcon was pimp too. A hard choice for me to make.

Zachary votes for Sprinst's 1977 Holiday.
I vote for Wrflpacas 57 Ski Champ.

The field to choose from is unbelievable. I feel guilty just picking one. OK guys the voting has started. Anymore nominees just add them. I'm sure I missed a few and I don't want to slight anyone.

Re: Splash of the Year Time!!!!

I have one more nomination. Zack's Sea Scamp. No it's not a beautifully painted SC and it kinda "rat" tin if you will. But it's exemplifies Starmada spirit. A Father and Son working together, Don teaching Zack how to make a seaworthy craft and how to use tools - even drawing blood on occasion. The "greatest Dad ever" and Zack deserve the SOTY.

My vote is for Zack's "Treasure Island" and I'm stickin' to it!

"Rat Tin" I love it. Me and my boy had a blast messin' with the Sea Scamp. It's not over yet though. We'll paint it next year. Sooo ,technically next year we'll be eligible. You ain't gettin' off that easy GA, pick one of these fine vessels. Many gems to choose from in the Starmada. Thanks anyway.

I guess I have to give it to TGPs all black beauty..
Really outside the box and not your standard blue white kinda paint..Its clean, cant see a blemish anywhere to detract from it.

Re: Splash of the Year Time!!!!

I vote for starcrafter 65s 1968 Holiday. That is one fine specimen.

Next year I will be voting for Zach's "Treasure Island". I lost my dad when he was a young 55 years old so that project tugs at my heartstrings. My best memories are still of the times when it was just me and him fishing from that old 14ft aluminum boat. It had no real seats or shade and the little tiller was finicky but never let us down, but we still spent all day on the water, summer after summer. That boat was replaced with a 24 foot pontoon which was super nice but never the same. Bwana mark my words...my oldest son and I will be working on a little old aluminum boat soon...

I should at least spell Zach's name right. Zach is still worthy, Don. We need a poll ti tabulate votes. Price-Waterhouse is too expensive for the Mob. :p

See, Don. Two votes for Zach. At least you have a couple in the bag for next year. Bunker, that's why I put Zach up. The thread was/is special to see a Dad and Son working and learning together. And fun, too.
