Working on my 1966 StarCraft and notice the pilot hose was not hooked up to push water pressure to the speedometer. Easy fix right!? After I reattached and went for a ride on the lake I figured out why it was disconnected…
Anyone have a solution for this? Going to begin disassembly and attempt to diagnose the issue.

Likely the brass tube that flexes to move the needle has a leak. Probably need to be replaced.

Anyway, try to dump out as much water as possible, and put it near an incandescent light bulb to dry it out.

Your speedo is likely a basket case. It has a sealed tube that flexes with increasing water pressure. That tube is leaking. Even if you can seal the leak the delicate clock works is likely shot.
Finding a similar replacement will be a challenge. Faria-Bede has a repair service for their gages. Send them this pic. Maybe they can repair it.

Shipping and labor will exceed the cost of a replacement.-----Going with a GPS speedometer will eliminate water altogether.-----But if you are attached to this speedometer then it might be repairable with a dab of epoxy.

Thanks for the suggestions here. In an attempt to remove I could see there is no way for me to disassemble this unit. Best case I find a full replacement and swap it out. It is mounted in the dashboard super tight that’s for sure.

I don't own Faria-Bede stock, but I had a good experience with them replacing my defective pitot speedo with a GPS unit. They have a good on line catalogue with various sizes, trim styles and clock faces.
You may get lucky finding a size that will drop into your dash hole. If not, you'll have to enlarge the hole. Their speedos are self-rimming with a behind dash clamp ring. GPS +- $120. Same style pitot units +- $80. Get the p/n from them and Google for your best price.

That looks like a common vintage air guide speedo. Probably $50 used easy to find
