Gee, I wish it were so. A lot of people think the earth is flat. Some that fly on airplanes. Luckily most of the people in the US are intelligent, reasonable, good people. I would hope the flat earth movement would be OBE.

Agreed it could go sideways in the blink of an eye.
I my eyes everyone is entitled to their opinion without being judged by others. It’s simple to just agree to disagree and call it a day.

Why then do diesel locomotives convert to electric? Honest question.
At least in Europe a lot of countries have gone from steam to electric in the fifties of the last century with overhead power lines and spring loaded contacts. The diesel electric trains were developed so they could use both systems and whenever they had to go onto tracks that had no electric overhead lines they could switch to diesel.

for the last 100+ years, power from an electric motor has never been the issue. what good is it if it needs inefficient, heavy batteries? zero benefit in a marine application as modern 4 strokes are near silent, and way lighter as a complete powertrain that can get incredible range.

the biggest issue as I see it, and as stated isnt the motor, its the batteries... while you can run out of gas with an internal combustion engine, its very easy to put some more gas in the tank and get back to the dock.... its rather difficult to have a buddy bring out a bucket of electricity to get you back.....

Boats and aircraft are two areas where electric isnt just impractical, it can be downright dangerous to run out. At least with a car, you can push it off the side of the road.... not so much with the other two....

Curb weight of an “extended range” Tesla 3 is #4,048, 0-60 = 2.3 seconds

Curb weight of Dodge SRT Hell Cat is #4,438
0-60 = 3.7 seconds

curb weight may be the same, but what do the batteries themselves weigh, as compared to the "fuel tank"... electric motors are a hell of a lot lighter than the average engine/transmission combination, especially in a RWD application such as the Hellcat.

Curb weight on my college hot rod. 2110#, 330hp. 0-60 3.2 seconds (tire spin limited). Sub 11 second quarter mile .Also got 32mpg.

It's always about weight

do I have the wrong one?
0-60....4.2 secs.?
estimated extended range 341.....real world never meets that. Don't run the a/c, don't carry anyone else, don't put that car top luggage carrier on, don't go over 55...you might get that 341.

since we're now comparing total weight/performance:
Here's real world....battery powered cars can't even compare...
2013 camry hybrid....
2008 silverado WT, extended cab, long bed, 2wd, 5.3, reg. gas, 34 gallon tank.
edit: I get 13mpg pulling my 24' pontoon boat.

Friend drives a small EV ,comes 2 hrs to see me for motor repairs.---Can make it round trip ( 4 hrs ) in summer.----Last time he drove his gasoline powered car.----The EV had winter tires and stated he likes to be warm.-----Can not make it round trip in cold weather with the EV.-----Also states that with 4 persons in the car the range goes down too.

Find me a cubic foot battery that can match my camry, or truck's performance. Including pulling my boat.......
We are being misled by half truths, and outright lies....
That's what p#s%iss+s me off...
