Are whiting available in stores ? Might like to try them.Crappie are great ,some American friends gave me a big bag to try about a year ago.Bought some smoked laketrout yesterday from a market and was it good.Normally not a fan or lakers as their too dry most of the time but this time they were soked perfectly.Prefer whitefish though (smoked).

Gotta put this in the space the old one was in. Bracket on wall is close enough but of course the holes are all wrong.

Two of the Admirals Uncles were commercial fisherman. One taught me how to filet fish easy. He sold me one of his knifes (a quarter) and one of his stones. (2 ceramic rods crossed). It will put a good edge on a knife. He is the only person I know that could walk down a riverbank and throw a 4' cast net with one hand with a bucket in the other.
Is a red drum like what they call "Grinners"? Catch it; hang it in a tree; cut the tail ;off so it will drain the blood; preheat oven to 325dg. Lay fish on a pine board; salt and pepper; lemon juice.Bake for 3 hours; eat the board; the fish is like eating a pincushion.
Admirals Dr. thing today; couldn't look at the truck.

Haven't tried those yet ... Red Snapper and Grouper I've caught and eaten. LOVE 'em. Trigger and Mingo too. But I can eat snapper all day.

Agree; Snapper are good. Only problem is the length has to be 22" or better. The fine here is $500 per under size fish. I have caught a lot of them 18-21" long; only to throw them back.

First time I ever caught one, it was at the time the biggest fish I'd ever caught. When the dude who was showing us the ropes laughed and said, "oh we'll catch a keeper later." ... I thought I was gonna' pass out :faint2:

Usually the black spot on the tail meant a Redfish. A drum was more of a grayish white with stripes. It was close to a Sheephead which had teeth that ate barrancles on pier posts. I didn't mess with them; near impossible to skin and the scales were huge; boney too.

Last spring when we were down at the Gulf a bunch of guys would come in with a cooler full of sheepshead on a daily basis. They made it look easy to skin. They've done it a few times. The one guy would get all the fillets and used an electric fillet knife to seperate the meat from the skin. Would end up with a nice chunk of boneless meat.

Had to be the same fish if you saw the teeth. I did not clean the fish. The person who did used a hatchet; and when he gutted it you could see worms in the meat. These were good size fish! They fried them; said the grease would kill the worms.I passed; had beer and chips. That was years ago.

Going to make a six wide by five foot deep little deck with railings and stairs.

went to menards and bought $725 worth of stuff to do it with. Hopefully I be able to return a lot of it and not have to make too many trips to town to complete this little headache...

Good project; might be able to precut a lot in the garage . Everything here that is built outside has to be treated material.
