I have a 1996 Glastron GS-160 with a 1979 Merc 140hp (126 at the prop). At sea level with the prop that came with the motor, about 60+, I have dropped all the way down to a 19 pitch prop and slowed it to about 50 at Sea-Level and 43 - 45 at 2,100' where I live now. PLENTY fast enough for a boat that weighs 1,500#'s total. Had to put a 30# rock under the front seat in the open bow to be able to turn the thing <br /><br />Craig<br />Priest River, ID

Ive seen 54.9 GPS one time, but will run 51-52 evwry time it hits the water. 2000 29ft Chaparall Signature w/twin 250hp Volvo Pinta. Also burns 48.2 gph at WOT on Flowmeter.

Why is it no one ever post a question on the forum asking how to slow their boat down???<br /><br />My 22.5 bowrider will run 39mph with all of the power my little 4.3 will muster. One thing it will do is run all afternoon on <20 gallons of gas.

I have a 1978 Firebird Formula 18 foot fiberglass with a I6 115hp Merc same 1978 . 36.2mph on GPS , but I can only hit 5000rpm with a 13 inch 19P prop , I'm going to drop to a 17P prop and shoot for 5500RPM , I may hit 38ish ???

Anywhere between 38 and 42 WOT, but I like to cruise around 25 or so, 3300-3800R and she purrs along like a kitten and doesn't sound like it's sucking the 100 gallon tank dry so damn fast.

I boat on the Maine Coast. The sea conditions are rarely calm enough to run my boat at top speed. Also I don't even want to think about what a 24' ProLine weighing 4500 lbs with a single Yam 225 consumes in fuel at WOT.

my skeeter with the 50hp will do 35-40gps depending on how much crap I bring along. <br /><br />roomates 232 baja islander will do 77 on a calm day.

31mph.<br /><br />1978 18 foot flat bottom jon, full interior, fully loaded, 450lbs of people, gear, gas and 2 coolers.<br /><br />50hp evinrude.
