Re: So, how fast is your boat?
I would rather know how many gallons an hour I was burning than how fast I was going. 160 gals of fuel = about 1040, + dry weight 4500, + twin 2.0 liter Sea drives @ 600 LBS per engine, + 200 LBS of ice, + fishing gear and 4 avg size guys say 1000. just about 8000 lbs @ 4000 rpm 32 MPH GPS speedo isnt that close it bounces a bit but close. fuel consumption is 12-14 gals per hour per engine. Slow it down to for rougher seas 15 mph at 3000 rpm 5-6 ft seas 18 gals an hour per engine. At the lower #'s that gives me a range of 177 miles plenty to get to the gulf stream outta NC. Top speed with min fuel and just me 46 mph GPS. 5000 RPM ( max for this setup )@ 8 gals per hour per engine.Originally posted by swist:<br /> I boat on the Maine Coast. The sea conditions are rarely calm enough to run my boat at top speed. Also I don't even want to think about what a 24' ProLine weighing 4500 lbs with a single Yam 225 consumes in fuel at WOT.
