Originally posted by swist:
I boat on the Maine Coast. The sea conditions are rarely calm enough to run my boat at top speed. Also I don't even want to think about what a 24' ProLine weighing 4500 lbs with a single Yam 225 consumes in fuel at WOT.
I would rather know how many gallons an hour I was burning than how fast I was going. 160 gals of fuel = about 1040, + dry weight 4500, + twin 2.0 liter Sea drives @ 600 LBS per engine, + 200 LBS of ice, + fishing gear and 4 avg size guys say 1000. just about 8000 lbs @ 4000 rpm 32 MPH GPS speedo isnt that close it bounces a bit but close. fuel consumption is 12-14 gals per hour per engine. Slow it down to for rougher seas 15 mph at 3000 rpm 5-6 ft seas 18 gals an hour per engine. At the lower #'s that gives me a range of 177 miles plenty to get to the gulf stream outta NC. Top speed with min fuel and just me 46 mph GPS. 5000 RPM ( max for this setup )@ 8 gals per hour per engine.

2004 Glastron SX195 220 HP volvo GL saw 52.2 on gps bouncing off the rev limiter, thats w/14x20 four blade alum. Speedo is accurate at that speed,
have seen 55 w/the stock 14x21 three blade.

I do not have a clue. I've got a 176 crowline with a 3.0 and a broken fitting on the speedo. It's probaly better this way. I noticed with the speedo on my road bike I always was pushing it to go faster and let me tell you 50mph on 2" of rubber is really fast.

Reel Poor,

hmm, let me think, oh yah, ************
(Won't be talking like that here, if I have anything to say about it...Mod1)

Check out the 38' Fountain Lightening. It claims 88mph. Granted this has inboards, but my buddies boat was similar, and at least 3-5years older. Perhaps something similar was once offered with outboards.

2002 Glastron SX195 VP 5.7 260hp. Don't really know. The speedo quits at 55, and the needle is pinned before it reaches top RPM. Other boaters said they gpsed me at about 62-63 mph
