I am 'looking' at (i.e. considering) a variety of boats . . .

Cruisers 328/338
Chaparral 327/337 SSX
Cobalt 336
Intrepid 348

With my budget, the 32-33 footers would be I/O's and the Intrepid is OB's. Formula did not make the short list for a couple of reasons . . .

1) The Formula 33 footers have only a 21˚ deadrise, and I'm looking to stay at 22˚ or better
2) The Formula CBR's (similar to the other 3 mid-cabin bowriders) are about $75K more

The new owner came all the way from Mississippi to get the boat. He built the trailer for an exact fit of the 330 hull. Definitely a hands-on, DIY guy like myself. He wanted a party boat that could handle the salt water.

That sure was a pretty one. I like the shot where it's flying along and you've got it almost all the way out of the water... I think that's the same one.

We looked at a few boats over the past few days . . .

A couple of surprising take-aways. Vinyl upholstery isn't what it used to be.

We saw both a Cruisers and a Formula that had seam tearing/separation issues on 5-6 year old boats. Looks to be from normal wear, not abuse.

I am wondering if the manufacturers are finding some of the new materials not holding up like that more traditional vinyls. The issue on the Cruisers seemed more like a defect or poor choice of thread as it was all coming apart vs. tearing.

My reference point is my Formula 330, which the vinyl and stitching held up well for 20 years, then needed replacement. Is the new 'standard' 5-10 years 'til replacement ???  o_O

5 years for me. fortunatly I could have them re-stiched locally. I removed the vynal, and put it back on myself though.
