Thanks for you generous offer. I think trying a different needle size makes sense. I plan to look locally for some.

P.S. Your message box is full.

Thanks again for your interest and support !!!

Also I got the used machine for $30.00 and it seems to work. Its not industrial but does have more power and tension than the previous machine I tried. I will post some pics when I get going on this. // Still waiting on materials.

Re: Seat Upholstery for beginner

Update:

I was able to complete 2 seats with some trial and error. Luckily the stiches dont show so in cases where I had tension problems or other I was able to make a second pass.

Some tension problems can be seen in one of the pics below that were resolved with tensioner modifications. It was basically bottomed out after adding washers so I hope to devise something better at some point.

I found this seaming tape very helpful and ended up using it for almost every seam.

v69 thread, #20 needles, the sewing machine shown below, with the tensioner modified to allow for proper tension, and silicone dabbed on the needle with a Q tip seemed to be the best setup i could find.

Thanks again for the encouragement and tips on this !
Still need to do the rear hatch cover.I will post more pics as things progress.
