seat box / storage pedestal

Been looking around a while tonight. I have an early 70s 14' Appleby FB tri hull that I'm putting a new floor in.
Instead of putting a flush metal pedestal base in the floor, I would prefer a box style base that I could use for storage. I've done a lot of looking and searching on line and I've found big plush stuff for pontoons or runabouts but I would like something that wouldn't get in the way of your feet.....something like this 1448_pf_camo_front_swivel_seat.jpg

Or perhaps a closed box of some kind. I'd prefer to buy instead of making, just as a time saver.

Anyone make something like it or a simple not too big seat base box?

Re: seat box / storage pedestal

Lots of good info @ iboats, try reading thru here:
fiberglass box / pedestal seat bases

There's a link down the thread to a custom box site, whoever posted the link thinks they'll make ya whatever you need..

But no info about your boat makes it difficult to recommend an off the shelf product. 12" tall base or 18" tall base... Going in a 54" beam boat or a 72" beam boat (allows for a wider base).......

Make your own, a few have recently:

WoodOnGlass (pedestal pyramid, no storage): 1961 Lonestar "Flamingo" - I finally Started w/pics

Sphelps (shorter open sided storage seat boxes): MFG rebuild getting started pics

Welcome to iboats, have a good look around, tons of good stuff in the resto forums & elsewhere

Re: seat box / storage pedestal

Thanks very much. Here is the 'ol girl. Just wanted a small fishing boat for a couple of small local lakes, but was looking for something besides the typical aluminum jon to get away from the benches you constantly have to straddle or swing your legs over.
