Sealing splashwell seams

Want to reseal the splashwell but am unsure what to use. Looks like it had some sort of grayish caulk that is now brittle and cracking.

I am using 3M 5200, takes a week to cure but it is some good stuff, wont come loose, water tight seal. Problem is that some say it is almost permanent and therefore would use 3M 4200.

i am a 4200 guy, you may have to repair the transom some day.
