Just a quick update so I don't forget about this project ..
No actual work but I have been thinking about it so I guess that still kinda counts ... Been swamped at work but with work there are benefits from time to time ...
I was told to get rid of this ....

Ok nooo problem .... 13 ft high and 13 ft wide looks like it should be a pretty nice gantry to me !
Gunna pour some big footers with anchor bolts ... Should pull an engine or two I would think ... Just need to decide where I want to put it in the yard ...
Hope everyone has a nice Easter !!!

Oh yea, never ever throw away metals that can be repurposed. Looks like a nice haul there. :thumb:

Hmm I have been pondering one on wheels to put in the hanger, looks like you scored there! I designed a bank a few years back, there was about 3000# of angle and misc. steel left over. I ask the superintendent if he was hauling it back to his yard, no we are getting rid of it......so I went home and got my trailer :D

I try not to dumpster dive too much because you can end up with a yard full of stuff that needs to go into the dumpster ..
That was a temporary hoist gantry used to hoist up some heavy machinery through a hole in the floor of a multi level mezzanine ... Some how I got roped into removing it from the building after they were done with it .. It took 4 guys to dismantle and wrestle down a service elevator ...

If you go with wheels, which I had to, harbor freight has inflatable setups for like 8 bux each,,,,they worked even over rough terrain....if I liked welding, that's what id do with that score u got......

That is pretty cool Sam, bet she would run with a 350 in her! Let me guess, it just has a small soft spot in the deck? :bounce: Can you file for lost title down there?

I just hate to see something so cool go to waist ...

Tell her that it is an investment!!! A $30,000 boat for only $500!! It's not every day that a deal like this comes along! Even after you dump 4 or 5 grand in the resto, you still should come out pretty good! You are almost crazy to pass this up :eyebrows: :D

I know it's a CC but me thinks even with a full resto it won't be worth 30,000 ... Prolly more in the 15,000 range if that ...
A friend at work said I could get what they call a Bonded title ... After 2 years if it doesn't show up stolen they issue a real title ... That means it would be a planter for 2 years before I would even think of restoring it ...

Well seeing as I have brought this thread back up I may as well share some thoughts on the manatee .. Been sitting in the yard out in the weather for a while while I have been working on the BBQ area for the Admiral ... Sil needed his trailer back so he could trade his boat away .. So I stuck the Manatee back in the shelter ...
I have pretty much made up my mind that I am done trying to make the gellcoat shine ... I think I would need to shoot another couple of coats and I'm tired of rubbing on this thing ... Sooo my plan is to go ahead and prime and paint the hull .... Instant shine and call it good ! Flip and start working on the rest of the inside .... If I ever do gell again I will spend the extra money and get a dump gun now that I have a compressor that will put some air out ...
I sure will be glad to get the outdoor kitchen complete so I can get back to boat building !

I say you offer the guy 150 or so......then tell the Admiralty that you got a new planter.....distract her for two years with home improvement projects..... and act surprised when you get a title in the mail!

Why do I keep looking at c/l .... Always see something I'd like to have ..
https://jacksonville.craigslist.org/boa/5719799724.html

Um, what part of that ad is of interest Sam? All the motors? Boat is listed as sold.....

$250 for a 55hp Suzuki short shaft sounds stupid cheap. Oil injection failed and its now locked up? Or worse?

The $100 Merc 90 looks like its probably had a rough service life too.....

Don't feel bad. We don't use CL here but we do use Kijiji. I have auto emails sent to me for certain criteria of boats. I think I have like 18-20 emails sent to me daily for new ads. It's a curse I tell ya. We all need help.
