Anyone know if special tools are required to replace the rope in the black rubber bumper molding around this bass boat? Does it take a special rope or will nylon rope do the job?142.jpg143.jpg

Re: Rope Rotted in Molding

You have two, no, make that three options. First contact the original manufacture of your boat and see if they can help you with replacement. Second, research replacement rub rail inserts. There are a lot of them around and I'm equally sure they carry something like that. And thirdly, you can research those same rub rail places and maybe see something else that catches your fancy for replacement. Either option and you shouldn't have any problems satisfying your needs to fix your boat...

The rub rail at the transom has end caps that make me think the rope can be replaced. The boat is a 1986 Jason Bass Boat and was only manufactured for two years. Anyone evr tried to replace roping in a rub rail?
