Re: rooster tail

and no one looked at turfmans reply??
"As a kid I remember this trick. But we didn't have the back of the can cut completly out; just a few quarter sized holes all over the can."

turfamn.
this has been overthought, if kids could do this back in the 50's or 60's without the high tech solutions we have today...

That's one of the many "jet boats" down in Ocean City Maryland. http://www.searocket.com/about.html

It's nothing more than a large bilge type pump making it appear to be a rooster tail. I've seen them idling and spraying at the same time. We vacation down in that area every summer.

So in short, they are cheating.

How is that for a rooster tail?!
I will definatly try this out once the boat is in the water, my dad is a contractor so I have access to tons of pipe and fittings of all sizes. If the word is a soup-can with a little tinny boat, I'm thinking a five gallon paint pail will be appropriate for my boat (20,000lbs) :p

NIICE!! that blower is sexy. lol and that boat sounds angry. haha nice vid

Re: rooster tail

i have tried with no success ............... i thinkn the soup can idea needs to be scrapped ....its too hard to get the pitch right and keep the can in the water with a string...........now im gonna try the pvc method.

maybe go from a 3" to a 1" and see if that will give it some pressure.

im only able to work on it every once in a while....

im doing it in secret when im by myself so when im pullin my kids or buds on skis or a tube i can give them a big surprise :D

Re: rooster tail

maybe a 3 in rediced to a 1 in exit, you want huge intake of water to be forced out a smaller opening. but need to find the happy place between intake size and exit size.

that was what i was thinking...............but the string thing has got me baffled.

i need something that doesnt need to be attached to the boat so i can give the surprise to an unsuspecting skier/tuber :D ............ they would catch on if it started throwing a tail straight from the dock ............ and after the first one gets a shot to the face the rest will be on edge waitin for me to throw the "blaster" over the side.

thats what im gonna call mine "the blaster"

i have thought of trying to come up with something i could aim like someone earlier had mentioned

Re: rooster tail

this is like aliens...lots of people claim to have seen them but no one can come up with real proof....there is no simple way to hang something off the back of your boat to produce a sweet rooster tail!!!! this has been floating around on here for years.
there, i said it.
