hay mike I just took a second look at your pics and right below that plate you have on there , the dark spots check them out really well , see how far you can stick a pick or a real thin flat head , and also I dont want to seam down adout the git rot , but what about the top part of the transom, there got to be 3 inchs up to the top, and how are you going to get that stuff up there without breaking the top lose ?? and if you have to break the top lose you might as well just go ahead and replace it !!! it up to you ,I just hate to see you go this far and have to redo it in a few years !!!!!!!!!!!!!
