I had to remove my swim deck to paint the transom. The Previous owner mounted it with what looks like inner tube patches and lots of blue silicone.
Is there a proper way to mount this? I do plan on using 4200 to seal screws.
Drill the transom holes oversize, fill with an epoxy/microfiber blend, and redrill. You don't want to drive self-tapping screws into the transom because the core will get wet and rot.
