Yes, that's my home,, more or less,, in spring and fall.
Where the boat is, in that pic, is my cubby hole, when the north winds come howling. That's the only pier that's concrete, to river bed, and blocks most of the waves.
2 years ago, Oct., white caps were coming up to the top of gas pier.. my boat was moving about 3 foot, Up n down, between crests.
Even after I moved it to the corner, there, she was still bouncing about 18 inches.
Those lakes can get nasty, real fast.
As far as fixing the van, it's not worth it.
2005, 178k miles, needs power steering pump and hoses. Trans cooler lines, front struts, all tie rod ends, battery, right wheel hub, brakes n tires, all around, soon to need a full exhaust. I forgot, the rear suspension, is totally shot.
Has coils and air ride, load leveler, plus traction control, which has never worked.
Think it has sticky valves, radiators about gone.
And that's just off the top of my head.
For the cost of parts alone, I can get something a little nicer, and in better condition.
I can do easy stuff myself, but have no where to work on it, inside. And for what I'd have to pay for labor, on things I can't do, it just don't make sense to fix it.
Place I might store boat is an old gas station, a friend owns. No heat, but has electric. I can run my torpedo heater in there, as I do boat.
Plus, garage is about 30 min, from my house.
So, even If I did work on van there, if I git stuck, and needed to get a part, I'm too far away, for anyone to give me a ride, to parts store.
I bought the van 2 years ago, for $2800, with 148k miles.
I got 2 years out of it.
And it gets beat up pretty bad, because I use it for work.
All my handyman and construction jobs.
It's had 2 tons of concrete and gravel in it, a few times.
So, just time for a newer van.
That's way, I have about 5 months, to rebuild my boat. Instead of dumping thousands into a van, that will require more parts, if I keep it.
I'd rather get a van, in a little better shape, and put my time into setting boat up right, for spring walleye / white bass run.
I'll be posting on here, another thread though....,
As I rebuild boat.
