Quick fix for blow by?

To get us through another season, is there a quick fix for blow by?

Does anyone know of a good addative or trick to decrease blow by?

A new long block is the quickest fix.

Those products are designed to move your money from your pocket to the sellers pocket. it doesn't help the engine at all.

Depends on the reason for your blow by. I've use Rislone for sticky rings, and Restore for worn cylinders - both help to a small degree.

NEVER NEVER NEVER use EngineRestore...or ANY product which contains solid particulates.

So called "snake oils" do nothing but lighten your wallet to the tune of the purchase price, products like this are worse because they can actually DAMAGE your engine...especially the fine passages found in engines with Variable Valve Timing systems.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... There's only 2 cures for blow-by,....

Either just don't start it, or Replace the motor...

Maybe! Just MAYBE!

EDIT: and no, that's not a tautology. The 'V' in PCV is for ventilation, not valve.

Ya I didn't think so because of the fancy fangled air filters on them. I take it's just a hose from the rocker cover to the air filter because of the constant smoke coming out to the air filter.

He didn't say what engine he has, though I doubt very very much it has VVT technology. If it is an old engine that is already shot, how much damage can you do to it. Besides I have yet to see any engine (older) damaged by Restore or a similar product. Granted, it doesn't always help but that is a far cry from causing damage.

It sounds as if he just wants one more year before rebuilding/replacing/or getting rid of the boat.
