i know im from sunny england but that was why my posts where referring to the splines may be sheared on the verticle shaft.glad you got it sorted out but may be worth holding onto your original upper for spares.

Well the original is still on the boat, but you're right. I was thinking about saving the one I just bought, god forbid I ever need it.

As someone previously posted, I'd recommend reverting to the OEM aluminum prop. It's now cost you a whole lot more money than simply having to replace a 70 buck new prop. The stainless props give better hole shot and cruise, but if you hit something all the damage passes to the gears; there's no give and bend like on the aluminum props. That's coming right from my outdrive specialist, as I had to replace my Alpha 1 Gen II drive last year on a boat I just sold.
