That's so awesome. Those fillets came out perfect! Curious how strong that layup is, if you ever needed to stiffen areas, it wouldn't be hard to glass in some bracing on the inside. Very nice, I'm definitely copying your idea, haha.

Woe it is pretty strong, but it will still need some stiffeners. I will probably use cardboard tubes cut in half and glassed over for that. I cut it out and put it on today. I sill want to cut it down shorter. needs a lot of fine tuning, but for the most part fits nicely.

I need to work on these corners some, but that shouldn't be a big deal.

Wood the layup is about 3/16" thick, doesn't really read that way in the pic, but it is.

Looks awesome Arch. I feel I should warn you though. I don't think your HVLP is up for the job. Looks like he's trying to make a break for it out the window in pic 2. Keep the doors locked for the next few days.

It only looks too tall in pic 2. Pic one looks spot on and pic three it looks like a 2 inch difference from sundeck to engine cover top. Angles can trick the mind. I think you should lower it enough so that if you are sitting back there, you don't feel like you're looking over the doghouse. Probably where you are going anyway. Lol

May be limited space after the stiffeners go in ... Lowering it will make it look better though ... Looks great as is ! Some sanding and fairing it's gunna look factory !

Pat I will keep my eye on the gun, but it sprayed Miss Morgan, so I think it will stay around for Fuggly......I hope it does those Devibiss guns aren't cheap!

Pat / Nurse the spark arrestor drives the height. I need to align the gimpbel and set the final motor height. Right now it is 3" higher then the shoulder it rest on. I'm hoping to cut it down another 1" maybe 1-1/2" if I am lucky.

Pat, I agree having it shorter would be nice, but it is really about 6" or 8" below shoulder height for me when I am sitting. I'm 5'-10". So you actually look down on it when seated. I'm sure it is going to get tweaked in the days to come. Right now it will let me move forward on tabbing in the two deck extensions and starting that body work. This weekend I hope to get the two front seat frames built and ready to send off for some upholstry! Then back to glass, bodywork and lots of sanding!

I spent this morning measuring the old seats and creating this very sophisticated shop drawing.....well it makes sense to me! Sort of

Using that I sawed up about $150 worth of plywood and oak to come up with this stack of parts......which will hopefully fit together in the AM!

This is a mock up....you have to use your imagination. The triangular part will be covered with foam and vinyl. The bottom where the card board is sitting will get a 1/2" or so veneer of teak or something along those lines.

Hopefully it all fits together tomorrow!

It always gives me pause to put the blade to the $50-$60 piece of oak! That shop drawing is about 1000 times better than the scratchings I do, (when I remember to make a drawing.)

What Corjen said, and what nurseman said too. I just pay attention to angles and lengths. For a sketch I just draw the line faster to make it straight (er). Lol. My chop saw or table saw will make sure it is straighter than my hand can. Super envious of your attention to detail on even the plans for a piece. I will cut a new piece and waste the 30 bucks or more to make it right but I won't straight edge a diagram. I guess that is the engineer in you.

I just thought I would drop in and check out your progress. WOW is all can say. The boat's coming along nice. I would expect nothing less. AS we say in Canada, ''Beauty, eh?''

Thanks for all the complements! TC, nice to hear from you, I guess you guys up there are thawing out, lol! As for the drawings, I get to cheat an use AutoCAD......makes quick work of putting together a drawing, not that it is always right! But it does help me think through things.....I ended up making this seat slightly longer than the original because of the hinged seat bottoms vs the lounger. I didn't have much time today because of mothers day, but I did get one partially put together. I should be able to finish it and the other one tomorrow night. I rounded off the seat and backrest corners with the bandsaw and belt sander.

I should have spent more time on the drawings....opps didn' sort through the radius's in the drawings! I hadn't glued it up yet, so a little table saw work and we were good to go.

Here is one of the seats. I still need to put the fronts on under the seat bottom, which you cant really see. There are a few more things that need to be done, but overall looking really nice. I also need to puck up the hinges tomorrow. I should be able to drop them off for upholstery later this week.

Sam I was thinking about putting in a latched deck plate and create some storage between the seat backs I was thinking it would be a good place for wallets and phones. I have a problem with that on Miss Morgan....but then I thought I have a glove box in Fuggy. I'm also a little concerned as to what it would look like.

Nurseman, Im usually the type to lay blade 4 seconds after I thought the idea up....

Arch, this pix, does my brain some good... eases my OCD for straight line and smooth curves..Thank you!

Glad it helped you you with your OCD Cor! It has been a really long week! I did have some time this evening to wrap up the last of the seat frame building. Sort of, I still have to attach the hinges and the seat bottoms tomorrow. I need to pick up the hinges at lunch. I will also put a couple of layers of system 3 penetrating epoxy on them before they are off to get vinyl. I used it on Miss Morgan and have had really good results. Here is a shot of the seat fronts, the angels made them a little more work.

Back to fiberglass and body work this weekend.
