Re: president tonight- thoughts?

Gee, al queda and other terrorist groups are just no where to be found in Iraq. Yeah, we need to go elsewhere to find the real terrorists.

I've had it with these stupid, nitpicky reasons why this was all such a big mistake. If 9/11 didn't occur, then we wouldn't be there. I've said that since day one of the war.

Here is something else that I just learned right here on Iboats. The taliban still holds a massive amount of power in Afghanistan, and that we didn't finish the job. I guess that really explains why the country fell off of the face of the earth as far as the media is concerned. You'll notice that as soon as we took control in Afghanistan and things began to improve immensely is when news coverage of the region went to zero.

The news outlets don't lie about what is going on. It's what they fail to report.

I was waiting to see what PW2 and Mrbscott had to say about it.

I figured that if he makes them mad he done good
Ditto. Not from a "ditto head", from an AMERICAN.

Our troops are doing the yeomans work of keeping the hatred over there, not here.

We as candy a@@, spoiled, Americans are to use to safety. Wake up, THEY want to KILL us.

Let's keep the battles overseas, contained and pick them carefully.

For you America haters, always be looking over your shoulder..

Those terrorist groups weren't in Iraq UNTIL AFTER WE INVADED!!!! Do you understand what that means? They are there because we are there AND ONLY because we are there. Had we never invaded Iraq, terrorist specialists(only 3-5% of insurgency) from the region would not have gone to Iraq and started blowing everyone up. Global terrorist attacks have more than tripled since we invaded. What does that tell you? That we're making progress? Did you know that there had never, I'll repeat, never been a suicide bombing in Iraq until we became an occupying force there? Look it up.

Does the fact that the Taliban took down one of our choppers with 16 people inside tell you just how "secure" Afghanistan is today? Don't forget that Poppy production is the highest it's EVER been. Do you know what is mostly made from poppy seeds, and who the #1 consumer in the world is for that product??? And don't forget that OBL is still out there. Where did he escape from? Oh, thats right. Afghanistan! Who masterminded the 9/11 attack? Bin laden! Yeah, we did a real good job there too. At least we had a real reason for going into Afghanistan. Can't say the same for Iraq.

Re: president tonight- thoughts?

Why did he win reelection? Good question. It certainly was not because of my vote. The "correct" people don't always win elections, unfortunately, as we have recently seem in Iran.

And sure there are terrorists in there now, along with Iraqis that don't like their country being occupied, and who knows who all. Which is why we need to seal the borders. If we are going to fight them "over there", I think we ought to at least try to win.

And I see we are already blaming the press, and the liberals, and the democrats, and most of all Hillary no doubt, for the inevitable failure we are going to suffer in this unfortunate mess.

The mantra of the right is "take responsibility for your actions" Yep, it is the press's fault, and the dems fault, and hillary's fault, and anybody's fault but our fault.

That's what I call taking responsibility!

Better there, than here. Oh, I forgot  9/11 never happened.

If it happened here, the liberals would be running for cover and asking/pleading/demanding protection. Funny how those that HATE this country (e.g.-reporters) are the first to ask for protection, in foreign lands.

Lemme guess, the "correct" ones have affairs with interns and desicrate the house that symbolized all our country stands for. Their friends and supporters live in China, they don't do anything about lost military secrets and intelligence, they .... well, the list just goes on and on.

Just pack up and move to Canada so we can get back to loving this country and those who are Elected to run it on our behalf. I don't have much more to write about that, it's just tiring rhetoric that seems to spill onto forums like this when it should have been flushed down the toilet instead.

No, don't worry about responding, most who feel the same way as PW2 and share it don't have anything to write that I care to read.

I have a brother in the Silent Service. I wonder where he is and when we will speak to him again. Hopefully it will be soon and he is safe. May all those who protect the skies, infantry, intelligence, and under the sea return home safely.

And let's set something straight.... NO the firefighters weren't all for Kerry, that was a bunch of crap. A VERY attractive young blond girl came to the station one day and asked if she could give us some signs, we were able to nod "yes". They were "Kerry" signs. They were good "training materials" for our next fire drill (yes they burned fine).

Re: president tonight- thoughts?

Why are terrorists, including Al Queda, fighting so hard for that country? Targeting both our troops and Iraqi citizens? The country is fundamental to their activities. Irag is smack in the middle of the Islamic extremist region. It is very important to them. It's a hotbed. That is a big security threat to us and all democracies. To say all of the terrorists showed up after the war started is either just plain ignorant or you are desperate for anything to support your argument. Which is very weak.

Someone stated that we need go after the REAL terrorists, who are somewhere else. No way would they be in Iraq. Then it's stated that the REAL terrorists are in Iraq, but only because we are there. You guys can't keep your stories straight.

My question: Where are the FAKE terrorists. Hmmmmmmmmmm??

There never was a suicide bombing in Iraq before we arrived? You're kidding. Wait, I can't believe this. I, I can't... Wow you really got me there. Yeah I guess there were no terrorists before we arrived. I guess that we should have left Iraq like it was. It would never, ever be that they could freely organize and perform activities before we arrived in Iraq. That they didn't have to do anything desperate and extreme before we arrived to take their security blanket away from them. We must be failing.

No suicide bombings in Iraq before we arrived. That really says something! That Sadam, what a great leader!!!

We've made great things happen in Iraq and Afghanistan. Women now have rights. That's big, and that is only one of the great things that have been accomplished. To bad the media doesn't report this.

Who said we quit going after Bin Laden? It would seem that way, since news reporting on the region is mysteriously nil. I wonder why that is? Who said we aren't concentrating on Afghanistan and Iraq at the same time?

Re: president tonight- thoughts?

i believe it was reported that of all the purported mayhem in iraq, it is more like 4(FOUR) of 17, ok maybe SIXTEEN provinces where the INSURGENCY ACTIONS are taking place. we don't really get the percentages of the place as a whole from MSM either. mainly just plastering how many deaths are happening every day.
wow, please be more pessimistic... ;)
