Power pack and coil AGAIN!!!

About 7mo ago I replace the power pack and ignition coil on my 1992 40hp Johnson 2stroke to fix I problem with it intermittently dropping a cylinder. It has run beautifully up until the other day. As I approached the dock engine began to run terribly. I put in neutral and use neutral lever to keep engine running while I pulled plug wire to see which cylinder and it was the bottom one. Change in running when I pulled that plug wire. When I returned home I changed plug wire ( switched plug wires to eliminate those). Same issue. I put everything back as it was and know engine will not start. Have spark at top cylinder but none on bottom. Please advise. Have new power pack and coil on the way. Last time this happened engine would at least crank. This time engine will not crank, just turn over. A little confused. My tools are few and crude and so is my outboard knowledge so please be patient with me. Help.

To some of us cranking refers to the starter motor turning the motor.

When I say crank I mean it will not fire up or run. Starter turns Engine over fine, just will not fire up, run. Moments before, it would fire up but run ragged. I pulled plugs one at the time and had wife turn key so I could check spark. Top cylinder has spark, bottom cylinder does not.

Parts are from marineengine.com. For the model # of my engine ( CDI coil and power pack. Aftermarket). These are the parts that were on this motor when I first replaced 7mo ago. ( VJ40TLENJ )

Update. Replaced power pack and ignition coil. Engine fired right up. Not sure which one was the culprit. Still leaning how to use voltage meter, nor which wires to check. Are there other ways to pin point or get close to finding which one it could have been. Some process of elimination or something like that for someone that does not have the experience you guy do. I guess I’m a little afraid to tinker and probe around in fear that I my fry something and cause more harm than good. Thanks for any advice or encouragement.
