I hope this build keeps you entertained, GT, I think its going to be fun!

Zopperman.......I like the way you think....I'm going to keep my eye on you.......that gives me an idea....what if I cut the toons in half....insert a keg in each one, then foam them in place? What would that be? A kegtoon? We could start a new movement in the boating industry right here!

Re: Pontoon rebuild / redesign

Don't temp me zooperman.....we could add a cooling loop around it to keep them cold too! I spent an hour tonight walking around it with a tape measure. Apparently they built this one on Friday after a few beers at lunch......or didn't know how to use a tape measure! Nothing is square, and most of the perlin spacing is off from side to side. That doesn't really matter to much other than at the plywood joints. One is off so much only about 3/8" of the plywood rest on it. I got to thinking the plywood joint layout may change depending on how I layout the rest of the boat. So I need to get the deck on temporarily and start working on the rest of it. I tried to pick up some cardboard sheets (4x8) today, but it rained off and on. Hopefully maybe I can get some tomorrow and start on the mock-up.

I had a little time on the boat tonight......spent most of it walking around with a tape measure and trying to visualize what I want to do with it....then it occurred to me, I have an aircraft carrier! :D This thing is huge after working on Miss Morgan!

put a simple deck on it, then park a rv trailer on it...instant houseboat!!!!....but leave the wheels on the trailer so you can take it off and still use it as a travel trailer!!!!

hmm....possibly a new market for that!!!

Well we are adding on to an RV dealership......maybe I can work a deal? Kegtoons floating RV pads? For some reason that doesn't sound like it will look very sexy, lol!

Hey arch, enjoyed your work from a distance for quite some time. Looking forward to seeing this one un-fold.

Saw this on the tri-hull thread the other day; what about something like this:

sort of the VW van of boats... nice retro look. Much like their van counterparts, I bet these vessels were no stranger to the "hippie lettuce" in their time.

Re: Pontoon rebuild / redesign

mrdjflores.....where did you come across that? I can't imagine trying that in my favorite lake, the OK winds would kick up for sure and take the trailer to the bottom! Looks like they need a little more deck area!

PMccraney, glad to hear from you, feel free to chime in anytime! Wow I bet those things are like bobbers when the wind gets up, lol!

Thanks for the ideas! I need to get a new hot glue gun, mine has seen its better days. Hopefully I will have a few evenings this week to start putting together some mocked up ideas.....nothing like cardboard, cheap and easy to work with.

Re: Pontoon rebuild / redesign

Hey arch,
I had a buddy that had a toon that actually had a 4 cylinder mercruiser engine in it. I never saw it but he said it was pretty sweet because it had like a small engine room and none of it was above the deck. I have a spare engine and outdrive with all the controls. Just think 140 HP pushing that toon around the lake. LOL :p

Hi all,
First post but been watching Arch's quest for a while. I am redo'ing a 28' Harris. It had a OMC 120 Stringer, thrown rod, I am changing to 140 mercruiser. Talk about an aircraft carrier................ Anyway, watching for more ideas.
