+1^^^ For the cheap money just replace the gasket and don't worry about it. As Bondo recommends just use a little grease to hold the o-ring in place. If you use glue it will just make it harder to completely remove it when you have to replace it next.

True..! Hey guys, so is it not ok to add some kind of silicone around in the outside.??? I will replace it. Just courous.!

Ayuh,.... You can slather it on all over, anywhere ya want,...

It won't stop a gasket from leakin' though,...

Not O.K. was designed to go together dry. Manny, you keep asking us questions... we give you the answers and then you ask if you can do it another way instead. Why do you keep asking if you're not going to listen? I've worked on my own boat and friends boats for years and I only claim to know a little. You have many on this forum who are or have been full time mechanics, doing this for years and could do it in their sleep. Just do what they tell you and how they tell you to do it and you'll be fine. Why over think it??? :noidea:

Hey guys, so i bought an upper unit just cuz i got a good deal on it.! And because some of you told me i had the wrong ratio on my drive.! So i got me this upper unit, with the Ratio 1.84 R which you told me was the one that my chevy V6 was suppose to have originally.! And the serial number is 08800341. Now where can i find out the year and HP for this unit.!?? And should i replace the 150.R 260 Hp drive that i have for this one?? Or do i also need to get a different lower unit / propeller as well??

If you replace the 8 with a B and put it 0B800341 it shows an Alpha 1 1.84. The drive doesn't have a HP the engine does. The upper and lower should mate just fine. You may have to change the prop but you will need to run it to see where you are at with RPMs.

I assume you mean between the bell-housing and the drive... Just how much ripped is 'a little bit'? and where was this rip? If it's in a critical area, you WILL get a water leak into the bellows, or the shift cable cavity... and that's not a good thing.

Chris.....

Achrisssss helppppp... What did i do wrong this time?? So i replace the seal amd added bellow adhesive to the big rubber like you told me.! That went find..! The problem now is, when i turned it on it starts in gear and now when i go reverse or forward it turns off.!! What did indo wrong? The first time i didnt have this problem. :( :(

My guess would be when you put the upper and lower together they were not both in forward gear.
