I have upgraded my 1985 Mercruiser 470 from points to the Pertronix ignition.
My question is what color is the resistance wire running to the coil so I can be sure I have unhooked the correct wire so I get a solid 12v to the coil?
Also, where exactly is the resistor itself located and can I just remove it and slice back with a heat shrink butt connector?

Just run a wire from the choke coil.. purple wire is your resistance wire. But if you disconnect it and hook it to the choke coil it’ll work ( as long as the pertronix stays working that is )
