Not planning on it this time around. I used to only watch the hockey and figure skating anyway .

A little, but it doesn't mean as much now. And being in Asia, time difference throws everything off. And too many new sports, I mean why not snowball fights if enough can be scraped up.

Yup. I was watching luge last nite. I like the speed sports..... Although, I like curling too, not sure why. A curler from this area carried the American flag.. Saw a couple guys figure skate, not into figure skating, interesting how the announcers didnt say a word when they screwed up. They were mainly silent during routines.. 🤔

The Chinese folks are even a bit upset that their hockey teams are mostly ( if not all ) imports.----Some even have adopted Chinese names.-----What a joke these Olympic games are becoming.------All about money for the Olympic organizers.----Not an amateur thing by any stretch anymore and has not been for years.--------Too many events.------Next event to be put in is ---" snow snakes "-----An old competition in cold climates.

Hockey has never been amateur players except the US played college kids. That's what made it so sweet when they beat the Russians. ...
Now, except this year, the US has been playing their pro players. NHL has players from all over the world. During the Olympics they all go back to their homeland and play for there respective countries...

I like the winter sports, but have watched less and less over the years. The puff pieces and messaging was shown more that the actual sports. Can't stand the Tara and Johnny segments of years past.

Too many ‘up close and personal‘ segments, too little broadcasting of sporting events.

2nd guy down on the downhill wiped out and went into the fence. Slid him down on a stretcher... Didn't realize they can go 80mph plus...

That's because all the broadcasters are at NBC headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut.

I don't think that's it... focusing on the human interest stories of the athletes, rather than on the sporting events, has been a growing trend for the last 20 year. It's just getting insufferable; I don't want to watch a 20 minute segment on an athlete's journey, I just want to see the competition.
