Re: Official Starcraft Rubrail Thread

We need an official thread with all replacement parts IMHO. I wish I could score a lot of parts from the newer model boats.

I've been striking out finding inserts that I am sure will fit, or a dealer who is interested in helping me out.

Call the dealer I posted above, they'll order it and ship it to you.

That'd be a pretty short thread :p

I contacted them and just heard back with the bad news...

For 35', the total including shipping to me would come to almost $200. Guess it's not so bad if you can pick it up! The shipping is what pushes it up so far. At least the got back to me. Back to the drawing board.

Well, here's the email:

Starcraft quoted me a price on the rubrail that was in line. The problem is the shipping is horrendous and on top of that, they charge me a $10 Handling Fee. You will be pushing $200 for everything shipped to you. Absolutely absurd total, but that?s because of where shipping is on the item. Let me know if you want me to get it heading to you.

$1.20/foot @ 35 feet = $42 plus the $10 handling fee = $52 which makes shipping $148???? That is horrendous!!!!

Something aint right!

Lake, you want me to pick it up and ship it to you? I can't imagine shipping being that much. I know you need it, so let me know.

Nah lake, my dealer is right near my daily commute. We'll see if he can produce though.

Re: Official Starcraft Rubrail Thread

Is the reason for the high shipping because a 2011 Superfisherman is still attached to the rub rail? Seriously, is the high shipping from Starcraft to the dealer or from the dealer to you? Nevermind - LL's email said SC was charging that much to the dealer. Wondering if that is the shipping for the dealers entire order and not just the rub rail? Does SC have a bad rep with their dealers, that's no way to treat the people selling their product, is it?

Re: Official Starcraft Rubrail Thread

FYI update on my efforts at restoring my original rub rail. You may remember I took a couple days to work on my red rub rail with fine steel wool and numerous cleaners with OK results. Well it has returned to being all ugly again. And I used a marine vinyl protectant after cleaning. It might clean up more easily next time but I have not tried that yet. Glad I am retired with time to do such things. It it cleans up easier this time I will let you know.

Re: Official Starcraft Rubrail Thread

My red rub rail looked kind of hopeless so I bypassed any effort on it. Thanks for the update on that & let us know if you have any future success. Too bad it keeps getting ugly, those red ones look sharp.
