These trolls are beginning to irritate me. They contribute nothing to knowledge about boats, engines, etc. and start a lot of uneccesary wars.

I wish they would go to Forum X, where such nonsense is standard practice and leave us to deal with nautical questions and problems.

There. I've said my piece.

That was not intended directly at you, Trollhole.

I meant the kind of trolling looking for an argument or collecting useless input.

Peace. :)

Re: Off topic nuisance threads.

It was me. There I said my piece.

I tried to delete the post that irritated you so much, but was unable to. I am willing to let it die, but really, while I understand your point, I'm not sure why the concensus has little issue with some friendly chit-chat while it's the end of the world for you. But hey, apparently it's your board...

peace? :)

It's not the end of the world to me, Rag. It's annoying and I believe in speaking up when annoyed.

In this forum it would be in its place and I wouldn't comment.

This is not my board. It is our board, yours and mine. If we don't abuse it we can continue to use it.

Peace? :)

I agree with JB. There ought to be a topic called Boater Views. Hey ADMIN what do you say? :D

I still like "The Sandbox", but the way some of you have been playing on the boat and gun thread maybe it should be called, "The Cage"

Re: Off topic nuisance threads.

I don't know what thread(s) annoyed you, JB. I just hope I wasn't in one of them.
This page is for "Nothing to do with boats", so I hope that it wasn't posted elsewhere on the board...That kind of stuff iritates me too, as it only clogs the werks, and makes searches and follow-ups next to impossable.

But iboats is the only place I have where ALL my friends from iboats hang-out,and we can somewhat "cut-up" together, here on the "nothin about boats" area..
IOW, we need this page,to have a place to keep the nonscense out of the monkey buisness.
But i admit, some of it is silly.Yet,it seems mild in comparison to other sites I visit.

Just edit the post,by clicking on the small icon above the message. The use the delete key to delete what u want. If u delete the whole thing, it will just put an empty message back up, which is 'just there'.

Re: Off topic nuisance threads.

JB
It is very distasteful when one member feels compelled to chastise another for his anoyance of posts that he could have just ignored.

There are "nice" ways to notify brother/sister members that they may have misposted to the wrong forum.

This is not an un-moderated list, there is an administrator and I have seen him do his work.

If all members are equal...what if we all were to "call down" those we don't approve of? (IE: Boats and Guns topic)

Mayhem and loss of membership = loss of prospective customers for goods and services for this site.

I would appreciate it, if you would revert to your "member" status and stop chastising my posts as though you were the moderator. I am happier, to learn from your knowledge, rather than be the focus of your anger.

Respecfully,

Capt. Bob

Re: Off topic nuisance threads.

I agree that it is distasteful, Capt. Bob.

It is more distasteful to ignore it and have this site turn into a drunken frat party as at least one other has.

The "Last Straw" post that prompted me to speak up is gone. There is at least one other post that belongs on this page rather than where it is.

If you want to post about guns, women, politics, religion or social issues within limits of decency do it here, not in a page dedicated to serious issues about boats or engines. I have posted here on political and social issues myself.

I am not angry with you, Bob. I was annoyed with what you did and I said so. You were obviously annoyed with what I did, you said so. We're even.

Let's drop it. Peace? :)

Re: Off topic nuisance threads.

holy crap jb. you seem pretty annoyed about nothing. forums are for banter, remember? the interenet is a free place. if you don't want to look at a post move on! god it seems so simple. i'm not trying to flame you at all it's just that you came down on a fellow poster for what seems to be a silly reason. did his post clog the system? no. was his post directed at you? no. so who cares? what's wrong with a frat party? you never had fun before? you could always start your own section... "boring no sense of humour allowed questions about serious matters only regarding top secret knowledge for only the privelegded few". there. said my piece. peace?

Re: Off topic nuisance threads.

Sometimes a post can be written after having a bad day or while feeling particularly cocky,or after one to many brews, and a post comes off as being a mistake or being misunderstood.
I've made this mistake a time or two.
I'll post something and an hour later regret it.
And to make matters worse further explanation or debate perpetuates further involvement/exposure.

Bottom line, sometimes people make mistakes in their effort to become a member of an internet community.

JB this forum is awesome. Topics that are not completely inline with the board are only like a small ****le on the face of a beauty.

Sloopy, you and I learn as we make mistakes and ask for forgiveness in our past posts. We value the place.

I've personally never thought that a CIVIL debate was inappropriate. In retrospect the guns on boat topic might have been better located here.

Its easy to spot meaness, disrespect and troublemakers as they are character flaws. I'm confident that the many fine people on this board are able to displace them in a timely manner.
