Re: Off topic nuisance threads.

I've been away from the board for two months and since my return I've seen a big change in the people and types of comments posted. I don't think it is all bad though.

In the "Nothing to do with boats" section, guys like Naughty & Moose are hilarious and I read them like it was the Red Green Show. Never take then seriously, knowing there is no malice meant, its just fun.
In the other sections were people are looking for help and advise I'm really getting tired of the pointless one liners that add absolutely no value to the thread. In the six months I've read this board there always seems to be one who stays for a while and then is either run off or moves on to another board. Today we seem to have Sloopy who puts irrelevant comments on issues e.g. "Synthetic Oil smells like playdough" not once, but twice in the same thread. I don't care what it smells like, I only want to hear if its good or bad and what the experience people on the board think. I know Sloopy has some good knowledge about boats and motors as I have read some of his better posts, but I would hazard to guess that 75% of his 700 + posts in the last two months did not add any value to the thread. Sloopy, please stick to the things you know about and share that info with us.
Let the jokers have their fun in the correct place and keep the responses to the help questions meaningful.
There, I've said my piece too!
Peter

I guess it is time I get involved. We have created these forums for all of your benefit. I have tried to stay out of the way (maybe a little too much). These boards have helped tens of thousands of boaters fix both their small and big problems maybe saving them thousands of dollars. We do not want to have to start manipulating this place to make sure people can still get the help they need without having to sort through the crap. All I am asking right now is to keep non-related chatter and posts away from the areas where people go for boating help and info..
