Re: October Surprise!

M&R,

Whats with these facts. How are they going to help John Kerry? He is a war hero don't you know. Doesn't seem to know anything about prosecuting a war, but he is a war hero, just ask him.

Let's think of those making the claims, honest as they day as long. And the timing, how fortuitious, and the 60 minutes trying to wait until two days before the election, wow thats strange how it would prevent a response. Liberals always playing fair. Love to watch them practicing their craft.

I am amazed, during a war, with hundreds of thousands of soldiers something didn't follow how the UN or the press would like to portray it.

The story is a joke.....

Re: October Surprise!

Have you not seen the pictures? I swear some people will try and come up with every excuse possible to lay the blame somewhere but where it belongs. They have video that was taken 9 days after we invaded Iraq with video David Kay, the head weapons inspector from the US, says is the site in question. The video shows barrels of HMX or RDX, one of the 2. What more proof do you need??? Snap out of it man! The explosives were there after we invaded Iraq and we failed to secure them. That puts our troops at risk no matter how insignificant 300+ tons of explosives seems to be to you. I read somewhere that the reason it wasn't guarded was because they didn't have the manpower. Who's fault is that???

Re: October Surprise!

Mrbscott~ excuse me, but Adobe Photoshop can make any picture show anything you want it to. I could put myself into any photo they have taken if I so desire. And with the number of journalists and reporters bringing all this INCORRECT garbage to the public, who is sure that those photos were not just that---faked!!!??? That could give a person something to think about. I ain't saying they were, but to base everything on a picture could be spurious!!!

Re: October Surprise!

Mike,I read your "facts".
The first five are facts ,although I cannot verify them.I do not know what the troops did there, nor do I know how many soldiers of the units that you mentioned were actually there.I do not think that you know that either.
The rest of what you say is opinion. Not fact. You should represent it as editorial.
By the way you make your points I sincerely doubt that you have ever been in occupied territory shortly after a militairy action.(I have)
Whoever moved those explosives probably had a very easy time doing so.All they needed to do, was to make sure that they had orange tarp on top of their cabs so they would be recognized as friendlies by the overhead patrols.
Explosives dangerous to transport??
As long as you keep the fuses away from the explosives, you really do not have to worry a lot.You can even smoke next to them, because these were 3 stage explosives.
In the absolute anarchy that rules in the aftermath of an offensive as big as this one,all you need is a lot of chutzpah and you can get away with murder and explosives.Big semi trailer loads probably. You see everybody is convinced that the fighting is over and now only our friends dare move around.Besides what better example of anarchy than the looting of almost everything that was not tied down just after the hostilities ended?

What made these explosives very sexy compared to TNT is that this is the stuff you can use to make an implosion that would trigger the chain reaction in an atom bomb.
Why does Kerry milk it for all it is worth?
If Bush were in his place you would write about Kerry having lost control of our troops..
Edit,Do you remember a movie called "catch 22"?

Re: October Surprise!

Lets see if I get this right.....as long as you have an orange tarp you can move several tractor trailers full of explosives around durring a war............now that one sure sounds like it will work......WAIT A MINUTE, I think we have finally heard the KERRY PLAN.....as long as you can find a way to get a few purple hearts while you are moving that orange tarp around, yeah...thats it.

Re: October Surprise!

OK Rolmops take a look at the top of my post and you will see it is a nypost web posting.......also states it is a post opinion......And no I have not been in a wartime combat zone, But no offence just because you have doesnt mean your able to determin what must of happened better then the people who wrote that artical of or that matter those who are in charge. Fact is that Iraq had tons and tons of explosives and chances are they had help moving it but ya it must be the Prezs fault because everything else is.

Re: October Surprise!

hello
its easy to see M&R has never handled HE. me, I have personnaly mixed it shaped it pressed it and machined the charges, made with RDX and some HMX, in a water bath on a bridgeport. we also carried 15,000 pounds of it around loop 820 for 9 hours. we had no special quipment other than a diesel forklift. we were licecned to keep 15000 pounds in our bunkers and had almost 30,000 pounds when we got word the ATF was pulling a suprise inspection. we loaded up the excess and took it on a 9 hour crusie around ft orth/dallas with no escorts and no signs on the trucks. then we put it back. it happens all the time.
as far as owning the skies we also own the space. how did all our satilites miss a movement this large. like you say it wasnt a couple of camels and a pickem up truck. I dont blame Bush , like you say he is to busy with the big picture. however its still his RESPONSIBILITY. heads should have rolled many times in his cabinet. his administration should have had some hirings and firings. but as far as handling RDX and HMX and PBX and such its no worries. lead azide is a much different thing.
good luck and it will be interesting to see what happens. as far as the vidieo with kay they also had some troops that verified it was them on the vidieo. I guess they can just be dismissed and dang kerry supporting weenies.

You have every right and the freedom to support anyone you wish. Your beliefs are yours, Bush supporters have their beliefs and they are theirs. This is the craziest campaign race I have ever seen in my 50 years on this earth. And I can't recall people being so fiery either. Three things can destroy a friendship in discussing or managing either: Money, Religion, or Politics. When the race is over, and the winner holds his head high, there will be a lot of chest pounding, smirking, sadness, anger, and other emotions running wild. Nearly like a super bowl or world series win.

Rodbolt, whatever you believe to be true, that is ok...but for every belief you hold, someone else can probably disprove it or attempt to. All I can say is this, you are who and what you are, and whatever you believe, remember this: even the radical Muslims believe that what they are doing is right.

Re: October Surprise!

I find it interesting that the left wing(skerry)
first votes for the funds to provide us(military) with equipment to help keep them safe, then votes against it.
Then the left says by being there we have put too many of our young boys in harms way....... then they blame Bush for not having enough people there to the job right.
There are so many weapons that we could not possably know where they all are and even the ones we do could not gaurd them, destroy them, fight a war, protect the innocent, help the Iraqi government become a democracy and train there troops and please the Democrats. But dang it we need to bring more of our boys home......I guess his Idea would be to let the UN find all those weapons since they did such a good job before the war :) You know your right its just my opinion but theres prolly alot more stuff laying around in Iraq that may be used against us but I just cant understand why this is an election issue.

By the way if bush wins or loses, I am American and will support my country whoever is leading, and to those I disagree with I hope when this is over, all of us on both sides dont still have angry feeling towards each other. Remember we all are Americans.

Re: October Surprise!

Of course Bush isn't personally responsible for loading up the weapons into trucks and making sure they get to where they need to go. But lets not forget, W wanted, asked for and recieved from congress the authority to make war on his say so alone, and if I remember correctly, a whole lot of bush supporters were practically rabid in their support of W himself being completely in charge of the decision to wage war. Now all the W supporters say how unfair it is for W himself to be held accountable AT ALL for how well or not well the war has gone. Sounds pretty flip-floppy to me, guys. What makes you all think W should have it both ways? Maybe if W had left war making authority in the hands of congress where it belongs -right where the constitution put it, actually- then he wouldn't have to take so much heat for what a mess its become.

And as to kerry being a political opportunist, get real. Bush and co brazenly made political use of images from 911 in their convention, which was parked practically on top of the tow towers site. You guys aren't against politcal opportunism per se, just political opportunism in the democratic camp.

Speaking of photoshop, wasn't the latest bunko photoshop picture in the news from a Bush campaign ad? Photoshopped picture of soldiers listening to bush's speech somewhere?

Re: October Surprise!

As I mentioned, and thank you for reading, ANY photo op can be disguised to be what ever the taker wants it to be...I distrust EVERY news media propangandist, and the only way I would believe any of those left wing radicals would be if I were ther to view the incident for my very own self...I don't care if it is a Bush or Kerry photo propaganda shoot...

Amen to M&R!!! I will support whomever is in office, though I don't have to love the way they lead. There are ways to debunk anyone in that office. However, I tend to feel that if God wants them there, then I better sit up and take notice too!!! I will support Mr. Kerry if he wins. I voted for Mr. Bush, and that is all I have the power to do, besides pray!!! And believe me, I am praying fervently thatif it is the will of God, please let Mr. Bush keep the office!!! What, you may ask, about the ones praying for Mr. Kerry to win??? Well, as I have said, we all need to pray just to keep ourselves in line with God, if nothing more...God's will will be done!! Some pray for rain, and some pray for sunshine so they can take the boat out...who will God listen to? Maybe both:)

Man I am excited adn wired for the end of Tuesday to get here!!! I can hardly wait to rejoice with Mr Bush!!!!!!!!!!!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! 4MORE!!!!

Re: October Surprise!

at least we all agree that when this circus is over to support the winner. I did find the vidieo more belivable when some of the soldiers on the tape identifed it as valid. and they can date it by way of military rosters and log books if nessasary. I dont think so much time should be spent on the fact the stuff is missing but start reviewing the satilite images and try to figgue out where it went. the stuff can be nasty in the right hands. a pound or so can blow the average car into shreds if shaped properly.
I know nothing of the technology behind spaing them I just made the shapes to print. however I have seen first hand the power of a shaped charge.
we used small cones 1 9/16dia by about 1 1/4 and could shoot a pencil sized hole just over 2ft deep through solid concrete.
my contention is this whole thing has been poorly planned and excecuted. from the initial lack of ground troops and supplies to known materials missing to the prison thing. heads should have rolled. and they may yet when things settle out. but in the absence of trucks the north veitnamese ferried a butt load of stuff down the ho chi min on their backs, more than our so called anyalysts said was possible. much more.

Yea, watch the classified stuff, but by all means, keep discussing the issue, study the sattelite videos, pick the evidence apart, and pour-over accusations of misshandling these explosives...

At least for the next two days. :D

rolmops
I have been waiting
seems a lot of us that worked in places like that have been interviewed.
but my exwife worked in the press plant and melt/pour area 6 years. she actually had the formula to manufacture the stuff. I worked in the machineshop and the R&D part of it.
that is what I say about being careful who you train to kill with gurillia(terror) tactics. once the knowledge is given its very difficult to control.
