Help pleeze:
Working on a 1977 Sylvan deck boat w/120 h.p. Mercruiser. Here's what happened recently:
Since I got the boat, the resistor wire would always appear warm to the touch. Recently, it got hot enough to melt the tape covering the harness that contained the resistance wire. When this happened, the points also melted!
I replaced the points and the coil......now there is no spark from the coil when engine cranked. If this is a wiring problem ,can someone tell me the correct way to wire these components? Any ideas would be appreciated
