Just saw on the news that Spokane has about 4 1/2" of rain for this month so it's about 3 1/2" above normal. Could set a record. It's raining right now and supposed to pour again tomorrow when I head down to the Blues for elk hunting. Will be setting up camp in a downpour it seems.

Would be nice if it'd balance out a little.

Not enough rain in the mountains to keep the Potomac River normal either. It's been pretty low all summer. So low most people's trailers were dropping off the edge of the ramp at Dam 5. We have recently been doing better with rain, but not enough to perk up the river. A couple of the larger lakes just south of me were in good shape. All in all it was still a nice summer here in the tri-state.....

Well the entire US never experiences a drought at the same time. Parts of Upper midwest are doing good. Pacific Northwest is doing good. Just the farther east and SE you go, large parts are doing bad. A no rain drought. Supposed to have showers here today. All I see is Stars. Would be nice if there were Water pipelines running all over the US to carry flooded areas water to drought areas. My Lake is starting to flood! Don't worry, we will pipe the excess to the SE. That would make too much sense. Oh well just let it go out to the full Ocean or into peoples homes................

I have been watering (automated sprinkler system) every other day now for the last few months. And I have some new plants to install. But I was waiting for a good rain to loosen up the ground so I can dig without a pick and shovel. But that is just not happening. :noidea:

Nashville area looks awful. According to NOAA we're down about 4" of rainfall ... according to the ag community locally it's more like 20". Thankfully, no shortage of water here, but things don't look good.

I know in 'Bama they're talking about breaking a record from 1874. Do you mean they had global warming then too???!!!!:D

Yeah, imagine that! I guess it wasn't called global warming until they figured out how to make money from it. Politicians!

I think the DNR is hopping the crickets won't make any sounds with rubbing their legs together being how it could start a fire.

And if things don't change soon, stores may ban corduroy pants as well.

No problems here. Our "Lake" levels fluctuate very 6 hours but have been pretty have pretty constant over the past 10,000 years or so.

We've had 43+" of rain so far. That almost 4" above norm

We still have enough water in the lake(on my end so I can get to the big deeper waters) to go boating. Highs in the 80s today and tomorrow. aziPlan on going tomorrow :). Amazing how much you can miss rain. You take if for granted during the rainy years. Last year it rained about every weekend and everyone was sick of the rain. Now all you hear is --when is it going to rain???? I just couldn't live in southern CA where it rarely rains every year. Change in weather is good for the mental health of many people. Nor would I like to living in the Pacific Northwest where it is gloomy and drizzly for long periods of time. May be beautiful but I have to have change. Here where i live we get every type weather. But sometimes we get stuck in a pattern that drives many nuts

Dry weather is good for cotton growers. You go down state and you still see a lot of cotton fields

I was looking at accuweathers long range forecast for the winter. Seems to agree with other forecast that this winter will be a mild one for the SE. I was looking forward to the usual La Nina cold winter to kill off some of these bugs. Maybe get some Snow. If they are correct then it looks like a boring warmer than normal winter here at least. But usually the forecast is wrong haha

I love Snow!! We usually get around 6" a year. Some years we get nothing. From 1960 to 1996 we got some great snow days. Sometimes it hung around for a week. Roads froze over. Sleet storms. Ice storms. Interesting winters. Deep freezes. A high of 16 degrees on Christmas day for example. Then for whatever reason a warmer winter pattern settled in and it is still here. Severe storms, tornado's also diminished in Upstate SC. I wish it would get back to the fun days of interesting weather. Greenbay would go back to being the "frozen tundra" during football season. Things have changed and i don't like it. Ya Wimusky they will get it wrong LOL
People go crazy here when snow is forecasted. Excitement builds. Ho hum up north and some get sick of it. Just more rare here. First thing people do is jump in the car and find a ditch to run into LOL

Well it only got up to 90 degrees here yesterday and they are saying the same for today as well. If it does hit 90 degrees today, that will be the highest ever recorded on record. But then the records only cover a hundred years or so. So who actually knows what is normal with such little data to average. :noidea:

Seems average would be changed ever year to incorporate the latest recordings. Once you have a few hundred centuries of data, then you can project a more realistic average about things. JMHO
