NHL Playoff Hockey Anyone?

...just wondering if anyone has been watching any of the NHL playoffs?
There are some good series going at the moment....and some great hockey.
Luckily a lot of my favorite teams are still in there...ie: Pittsburgh, Chicago and of course Montreal.
The Boston vs. Montreal series is going to be a good one after that overtime opening game the other night....great rivalry. Even tho' I've been a life-long habs fan (ie: Montreal Canadiens)....there are a bunch of players on Boston that I really like (ie: Bergeron, Iginla, Lucic to name a few).
Regardless, the hockey at the this time of year starts to improve dramatically....sort of like catching some Olympic style play.
Anywhooo, just wondering if anyone is watching and if so, which way are you leaning as the series unfolds?
All Good

The Wild moved on and will be playing the Hawks..... I think the Wild has a tough road ahead...... I've just been keeping track of Mn.

Go Hab's. Not a seasonal fan but it's all Canada has in there this season. Should be quite the series.

Rangers / Flyers was a blast. Rangers/ Pens is scary if the second period last night repeats. Pens offense is something to watch. Hoping for another gamee 7 to sweat out!

Anyone catch the Boston/Canadiens game today?
Unreal.....6 minutes to go in the game with the Canadiens ahead by 2.....and Boston hits with 4 goals in 6 minutes and wins by 2...unbelievable!! That kind of finish reminds me of the Canada/U.S womens Gold Medal hockey final in the Olympics where 'you just never know' what is going to happen and then...****e happens...LOL.
I love a good series and love this kind of stuff!!....1-1 now all tied....I've never liked 'blow-outs' in hockey series. I've always like the ones that were right down to the wire, ideally a game 7 and tied in the 3rd period.
Lets hope this series goes this way!!

Ol' Sid hasn't been really hitting the score sheets...BUT....better beware when he turns the corner on this stuff. In the meantime Malkin seems to be taking up the slack!
I am rooting for the Rangers Coach (Alain: former Canucks Coach)...hope it goes really well for him regardless....sweet justice for him w.r.t the Canucks who thoroughly sucked under John Torterella this year and who was justifiably canned this past week....and not a year too soon....imho.
I am not, and have never been a Vancouver Canucks fan....I hope they extract their head from their back passage this coming year under the new President Trevor Linden who already started out right by firing Torterella.
My two bits on the 'hockey line'.

Re: NHL Playoff Hockey Anyone?

The Pens are worrying me. They started the season as the team to beat. They were off the hook good. But then the Olympic break happened, injuries, a stroke, etc. Really messed with the chemistry. Since the Olympic break they have been playing mediocre hockey with brief flashes of brilliance.

And The Flower, if they can keep him from trying to be an over-achiever ... Keep him in position and stop flopping around like a fish out of water ... He can be awesome. But as soon as he trie to do everything ... Well, he becomes a sieve.

and Sid, well, he needs to get his head in the game. Last night was the first playoff game this year that he played like Sid. We need scoring from him. We need him to generate offense and shots on goal.

all that said, I am hoping the Pens advance, but the first series, and the first game of the second did not look good for them. Last nights game was better. Hoping they can close it out early this series and get some rest and regroup.

Re: NHL Playoff Hockey Anyone?

I'm pulling for the Blackhawks, but I've been watching quite a few of the games in other series, too. Boston v. Montreal is going to be a great series, I think, and I think the Habs could knock Boston out of the playoff if the Bruins play anymore games like the first in the series. I wouldn't mind that a bit...

I also think Pittsburgh has their hands full with the Rangers. I don't know what's happened with the Penguins, but they seem to have wilted a bit in that latter part of the season.

As a Chicago fan, I'm pretty happy with how they've been playing. The 'Hawks sort of piddled around during the last half of the season, but they've got their act together and are looking like they could make a deep run again this year. I'll be surprised if they're not playing for the Western Conference championship. If they keep up their post-season play, they might even make it to the Cup finals...

All around, though, some really good hockey is being played, isn't it?

It was like watching game 7 of the first round last year when the Leafs were 4-1 up with about 10 minutes to go. Ended up losing in overtime !!!!:facepalm::facepalm:

Crosby, Flower, and the Pens put together a full game! Take the 2-1 series lead. Hopefully they can keep the mojo going ...

Correction.....hoping for a game 5!!!!!!! Pens are too fast and Rangers aren't taking advantage of opportunities. Throw in horrible power plays and it spells trouble.

Wild up 2-0 with 4min to go. They need to win to stay in it...

3-0 PP That should seal the deal......

4-0 Empty net

Re: NHL Playoff Hockey Anyone?

I didn't see the game Wimusky but I saw the highlights...yeah, the Wild dialed it up last night for sure. Some very nice goals. Looks like Chicago was a little asleep at the wheel.
Now...lets see if they can get another game going like that one, although they (WILD) are tough to beat at home.
The Canadiens/Bruins game was good...although again the Bruins started to reel in the Canadiens in the 3rd period again. Montreal has to stay away from going/getting physical with the bruins...never a good thing. They need to apply their 1st and 2nd period game to the 3rd, this is where Boston jumps back on them.
Next on tap is going to the Pens....lookin' forward to that.

I found the the Chicago-Minnesota game #3 less than satisfying. I'm still picking Chicago in 6, but it won't be easy. Minnesota has tenacity.

Wish I could say I was sorry to see Boston lose, but I'm not. I'm hoping the Habs knock them out.
