Re: New Volvo Question

Well according to volvo before the recall on the carb can be done the motor must be registered. They echoed what you said about any dealer registering the motor. If it is not done by monday this is what I will do.

Re: New Volvo Question

Why wait? If you have a local Volvo dealer, explain the situation, show them your paper work and get it registered. It takes looking at the SN's for the drive, engine, and transom shield (TSK) and it typing it into Volvos system (VP Parner Network). It is there immediatly, no waiting. May take a few days to finally get your warranty card, but you can get the boat fixed under warranty card or no card.

Re: New Volvo Question

that was your problem right there
this guy who has so much $, has no idea what people want

Pay attention. Kal Kustom was who Volvo sold the motor to. They MAY have built the boat but then sent that boat to a selling dealer.
The selling dealer is the one that won't register the boat, not the boat manufacurer or engine buyer.

I absolutely agree with this. You are no longer going to have a relationship with this guy who is screwing around with you, and you ARE going to have a relationship with the local guy. may as well start it now with him handling everything ASAP. It'll create a better relationship. No skin off the new guys back to register it if he knows you are going to be a customer.

I am starting to discover that, I my no means think Reinell is tip top of the line and I could tell you the local Reinell dealer is not the best place. I wonder if Reinell lost some of its quality over the years. We have a 22C at lake powell that still works great. The motor and other things have been replaced but for the most part it has been reliable. I wonder if the problem with the shops is that anybody can be a Reinell dealer. That would explain a lot of my problem.

You didn't buy the thing from Kal Kustom so why call them? Or did you? You have yet to name the dealer, so maybe you did.
But if you didn't then you are just flat wasting a lot of posting when you should be finding a local dealer to register this.
Or, have I failed to mention this.
At 50+ posts, this is fast becoming a "I want to talk about it" type post instead of a "I want to fix it" post. You have the info, do something with it.

That is very true, I have already had to take the boat to the local shop once to adjust some of the setup items that did not get done when the boat was bought. Cable's idle speed and the tach was set to 12 pole and not to 8 cylinder. It is cheaper to take it here than to drive to Vegas to have the dealer work on it. I really like the local dealer and he has been very good to me in the past, when I was looking at boats he personally showed me some of his models on his lot, unfortunately I could not afford the monterey price tag. Very big operation and the owner is always the one showing me boats or working on boats, he seems like a really hands on owner. He installed my dual battery switch himself. I will take all of my boat problems to him along with this warranty issue.

Re: New Volvo Question

You mentioned this and I appreciate the help you have given. I called Reinell to make sure he had submitted the Reinell warranty trying to cover all my bases. I will be going to the local dealer and will not work through the Vegas Dealer any more. Again thanks for your help in this matter.

Re: New Volvo Question

That sounds like a much better shop. Just have him register it and be done with it. I'd be getting the boat back from the other clown tonight if I were you!

If registering is as simple as Don says (and I absolutely believe him) it's criminal that he hasn't done it yet.

It is that easy.

Re: New Volvo Question

Yes, and I also remember how you said it was easy after doing it a few times for no reason.
But regestering this power package with Volvo is filling in a few SN's by an AUTHORIZED VOLVO PENTA dealer. Wonder if he is a real VP dealer.
