I saw this 1957 Reinell sitting next to a road about a year ago. after a little investigation it turns out the owner was a cousin of mine.
I didn't have his Phone # or address but i knew his sister frequented the local farm store, I put out an alert for her...
Long story short, I bought it for $100, Let the restoration began. :)
The chrome is in good shape, the worst part is someone cut the gauge cluster out with a sawzall

Did you get a clear title with the boat? In some places, no title means big problems; other places, it's no big deal.

Boat looks like a '57 Chevy! :)

No, I did not get a title BWR1953 , That is something I will confront him about.

Along with the trailer, windshield, seats. motor etc..... :faint2:

If it comes to it, that's still a pretty cool lawn ornament for $100. :thumb:

Cool boat! Unfortunately, without a title it’s a lawn ornament...

Is there NO applying for a lost Title like a car or truck ? I guess it depends on the situation, maybe I could have him go to the DOL with me and plead on a watery grave with a bill of sale in hand. :blue:

It all depends on the laws where you live. Here in Florida you have to convince a judge that you truly are the legal owner and if you do, a court order will be issued on your behalf. Other places, other laws. You just need to check into them.

Check online with your states DNR, in Minnesota a boat older than 1979 didn't have a title so we only need a bill of sale.

I bought a boat from Wisconsin that the person never transferred the title when he bought it, the WI DNR gave me the name of the titled owner and I had to send a certified letter asking for a replacement title. When the letter was returned to me with an unknown occupant at the address sticker from the PO, I brought that to the DNR and they issued a new title in my name. Took a month but no big deal.

Title can be easy or hard to obtain, it all depends on your state. Don’t get worried about it ... YET ... but do explore that end before you sink money and time into her. I would hate for you to spend a year rebuilding and have big $ invested and then not be able to register or use her. First step first.

Thank everyone for your input, I'm sure i'll need more before its over.

I looked it over real close today and couldn't find a Vin # (tag) anywhere on it, typically located on the right rear.

Usually no HIN numbers on boats of this vintage. Not required back then.
One very good thing is the Gelcoat appears to be in GREAT shape considering her age. Fixin the Dash Is a pretty easy task.with fiberglass. Old Vintage boats are usually not that big of an issue with a lost title. Not to many Thieves trying to make a profit off of em!!!! I'll be following this one!!!

That is a super cool vintage boat that deserves to be brought back from the brink. You can get it titled, I don't know of any States that don't have a provision for such situations.

She'll be a head turner for sure when done. :thumb:

Hello, that is an awesome old boat. I've bought 3 of them the same way here in California. I've never had a problem getting any of them registered.
I'm going to follow along too if you don't mind.

Here is the same boat I found searching the web.
I'm getting ahead of myself, but I kind of like the black and yellow "Bat boat" theme.
OK a question i have for everyone would be what HP would you recommend @ 25-30 MPH ?

Rough estimation of the boats weight is needed. I got all the needed formulas bookmarked for weight efficiency and hull speed and prop size needed.

This is what all I could find on it. Guy had one and this was the motor it had in the pics. He said it was a 40-45 hp. Evinrude calculator using the worst possible hull dynamics said 45 hp at 500 lbs was 35 mph.

I also ran across some original interior pics I threw in and one of the floor as the guy started restoring it.

Hope this helps you some.
