Thanks guys. Bottom of deck panels are 1 layer 1.5csm, precoated with resin until tacky before laying the mat. Tabbing is 1.5 csm, then 1808.

I've completed 2/4 of the deck sections so far. The bow section has a layer of 1.5csm, then 4oz cloth.

The second section is only a layer of 1.5 csm. I will try to do both 1.5 and 4oz on the remaining sections if I can get the bubbles rolled out during the layup. I'll have to get better with the resin bubble roller. Any tips on this?
The only prob I found with the bubble rollers are they catch a strand and pull out the glass strands. Gets messy. So while doing it have pair of scissors handy and cut off asap while rolling. Other alternative/ in addition is to use a pointed chip brush. Cut the brush to a point, use it to pop/puncture out the air and keep rolling. try to force the air to an outside edge to bleed the air out.

I didn't like the fin roller. I had better luck rolling out bubbles with the 4" mohair rollers I was using and tapping with the straight cut chip brushes.

Finally finished the deck! Just have to fix some air bubbles then prep it for gelcoat and nonskid. Amazing how much resin it all takes between the deck, stringers, and peanut butter. Used 2 5gal buckets of gp100. The two colors are the different buckets of resin.

My boat is a 22 footer with a complete replacement of transom, stringers, and floors and I am at 25 gallons of resin and about to order 5 more gallons.... Hoping I can wrap mine up in the next month or two...

When screwing the console and leaning post onto the deck, will 5200 be sufficient for sealing the screws, or should I look at drilling oversize holes and filling with epoxy first? What epoxy should I use? Or would thickened poly resin be fine for this? Thanks.

5200 forever, 4200 removable, pb removable, oversize holes if deck is raw is good.
I would use pb or 4200 myself.

I will gelcoat the boat tomorrow, so I did a test panel on plywood. First coat unwaxed, sprinkled pumice, then second coat gelcoat with wax. All rolled on. It turned out good. Very hard cure, grippy with wet feet and the dirt washed off very easily. Whisper Grey gelcoat with no wax, MEKP at 2%, and used 3% wax/sanding aid on the last coat.
Do you think I can bring the mekp down to 1.75% for longer pot time, and still cure properly?

Well, all the fiberglass work is done! Gelcoated the boat using the method I wrote about above. Came out great. Will continue using the boat with the 40hp tiller until I get around to installing the console with remote steering.

Thanks to everyone who gave me advice! I started this having only done a fiberglass patch here or there.

I was just riding around in pangas down in the sea of Cortez, where'd you get that thing? I was thinking it'd be a great boat to build on with a cc, seemed to ride well and nice size...

I am in The Bahamas, they are Eduardono boats imported from Columbia. This one is 18 ft, other common sizes here are 14 and 25 ft. The added weight of the deck and foam should improve the ride a bit too.
