If you were in Long Island I could send you to the best fiberglass shop around, Raybo Marine in Lindenhurst NY but you will have to find a place local to you and see what they say.

Thanks appreciate that. Yea I'll start researching for some this weekend around here and see what I can find. I plan to weigh the boat tomorrow though. So I'll see will show up with that.

Usually the rubber coated flappers fail from an overheat…not from age per se.

Lou I really respect your experience but on his account I don’t think you are not correct I had flappers in my 91 merc 3.0 fail looked like over cooked bacon . Boat never overheated. Point is they are not the fail safe. Honestly in my option they don’t do much except cover a gross wave coming up from behind

Well certainly anything is possible but it’s also possible for inboard exhaust to run hot enough to melt rubber yet for the engine to be at normal temp on the dash gauge. In fact this is why some engines with overheat warning systems have additional temp sensors on the exhaust elbows to warn you of this. I keep an IR temp gun on the boat and check them every so often after coming off plane. I have found that’s when they get the hottest. About 135* in my case. Normal idle is about 100*.

Nevermind I said screw it and made the drive. Here are the results, I was able to weigh the trailer and boat. Boat is full of gas with 79 gallons. Total gross weight was 8240lbs minus the 79 gallons of fuel. (474lbs). So about 7766lb. Now I need to subtract the trailer weight not sure what that would be. I attached the CAT scale results and the sticker from my Trailer. I believe I need to subtract the GVWR 8525 minus the MAX GVCC 7225 which would equal 1300lbs.
So that means my boat weights a total of 6466lbs I think spec is about 5600lbs dry weight on this boat.

I’ll admit to not reading all of this, being on my phone right now…but wondering around the cam mention and the possibility of overlap

If you came in at that weight, I can't help but think maybe you are waterlogged. That weights more than my Crownline 265 SS surf with the 6.2L. My boat is 26.3' long and it's a beast of a boat. I gotta believe you're carrying some water in the core.

You could take off some hull fittings to see if water comes out. You could get a moisture meter but I've read that antifouling paint can cause problems with reading. You can also drill a hole on the inside of the hull below the water line that breaks the skin but doesn't penetrate the core. You'll know right away if it is waterlogged.

Good luck

Water logged, now comes the expensive part.

Put a piece of tape on maybe 1/4 drill bit, have it about 1/2 inch from tip and drill some test holes inside. Do transom, stringers and other areas down low.

Here is what my plan is for today. I am going to remove the screws from the swim platform support bar and aftermarket LED lights next to them to see if any water comes from there. I don't feel comfortable drilling any holes into my boat as I don't know where I am suppose to do that. I'll consult with the Volvo mechanic as well tomorrow so go over my findings.

Hey OP, how long was it out of the water when you took pic 3? Asking because there is a water trail coming from the bracket while the rest of the hull appears dry.

All those pics I believe were from when I got the boat back in June. It wasn't in the water since last year. Ill take come fresh photos now when I arrive to the Marina since the last time it was in the water was on Wednesday.

Those lights look suspicious the other area you might check is your depth finder transducer, I see extra holes that have been plugged with sealer. I might also email Chapparal customer service and ask them how much above dry weight you could expect a boat to be (allow for that tower and any other gear that is on the boat). I think most have found that boats always weigh more than the dry weight but the question is how much more before you start thinking there is a problem…

Nothing yet from what I have removed so far. No water has come out from any of those holes

I’ve always been curious how much our boat weighs but it’s difficult to find a place with a CAT scale here, I finally found a recycling place local to me that can weigh it, I might bring it over there in the spring to see how much it weighs. The dry weight of this boat was listed at 2650 lbs, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s between 3100-3500 lbs.
Good to see that nothing came out of your transom! And this gives you a great opportunity to re-bed all of that hardware. Can you remove the screws holding in the garboard drain?

Looks like the screws were sealed with something like silicone, and if so it most likely are leaking. Can take a philips screw driver and on the inside of the transom, down low where the screws where removed, try to push it into the transom. If it moves its soft

Yea I was going to reseal everything with Marine 4000 / 4200. However need to wait later this week for the temps to warm up again. In the Meantime I am going to see if I have the transom inspected. I don't understand how to inspect the transom. Is that from outside of the boat or inside of the boat?

Inside only for inspection
The transom is 2 to 2 1/4 thick. Your looking for soft spots

The way screws should be installed on the outside thru the gelcoat is:
Drill a whole larger then the screw. Like at least 1/4 diameter for a #8 screw. Then fill hole with Epoxy like marinetex. The epoxy dries then drill hole screw. This way if water gets in around the screw it doesn't touch the wood
