my new console has arrived. looks smaller in pics but its bigger then the original one. the original measured 20x14 this measures around 24 wide . i have a sheet of delrin , thinking i might hack this console, and mount it on the delrin instead? any thoughts. ? or should i just keep this the way it is and work with it somehow? i would have to take out some of the plastic where the wheel goes or build it up to accomodate the steering .

well i have decided to do the delrin. I took the console out to the boat and its way to wide. so i have started marking out where the guages are going. i will be cutting the switches still on the plastic and mounting those into the delrin. i still have to bring in the helm so i know how much space i have . the fishfinder will still be mounted in as well. i was going to use the wood frame . but its too thick and wont look right as an outline. not just that but it is to short height wise. all gauges wether or not being used will be installed. as i can use them in the future if wanted. the fuses will not be used . as i already have a fuse block for that. i will be cutting rectangle holes for the switches to be mounted with the plastic around them. the squares around guages will not be used either. using them as templates

Looks good! Bummer it didn't fit as-is but looks like it still provides all the pieces you need to outfit the delrin and make it custom fit the boat perfect so that'll be better overall anyway. Did the stand alone depth sounder come with the transducer?

here it is all fully mounted . wires are tucked in a bit . video to come after i post it up. the pic where i show the steering cable. should i drill another hole beside that one? or should i just go full blown hydraulic with it. wont be splashing till next year. so i got time to build up the steering system. and where i am holding the wire. its tan off the tach harness. what is that one for?

well i may just end up putting the green tints back on the lights. seeing as i may have done a booboo. i have connected the volt meter direct to the fuse panel. i re-read my schematics tonight , and noticed that the purple from the tach/ acc has to be on all gauges . including the volts. so i am going to unmount tomorrow and redo the purple. and while im at it change from white to green. :) cheers. and thanks you for the input. at some point i am going to try to polish the console so its not so dull looking.

I can't wait to see it all lit up, green! Are some of those gauges crooked?

here is the latest and final update on the new console. (untill i get my Hydraulic steering of course. :))
I like the green too! Pretty sweet that they all happened to match. And depth being red and standing out definitely isn't the worst thing! How much does a hydro steering setup for that boat go for?

cheapest i found was mid 500.however it wont be this month unless i can find someone thats not using a hydraulic setup and wants to get rid of it. thats the only way im gonna be able to do hydro.... EDIT* after hearing of some stories with hydraulics i have decided to just cut the hole where needed and keep the cable, might take it outta tilt tube and put it back on bracket.
