Re: neighbor ruined my laptop.... what to do...
I have had a similar situation where a friend helping me broke something we was working on that was very expensive & I can tell you honestly I didn't ask for anything I just purchased a new one my self to preserve our friendship although he did offer to replace. Maybe I just look at it different since I have owned some sort of businesses most of my life.
This reminds me of a recent story with a client & a Appreciating crystal figurine.
Fact is we shouldn't have touched the item but we did trying to help her out & it broke so we offered to pay for it but the client said. Yall have always been fair with me & helped us so I don't want you to pat for it. We said we still thought we should but she said it was also her fault for not moving it & she wasn't going to let us. It ended with her saying I would never take advantage of such a good company.
Nothing we say will change the facts In almost every situation our laws wouldn't have given him more than he lost which would be a Depreciated Value for the loss. This is so that people are not unjustly enriched from accidents.
Honestly, I feel that he should be repaid with a compariable lap top by his neighbor and thats it. I think that most of you tools on here would be singing a completely different song if this happened to you or if you actually valued the work you do.
