Swing Keel? I had a Catalina 22 . . . but I think the O'Day 22 was a wee bit more stout.

My last sailboat was an Oday 27 and a keeper. I recently gave her to a boy scout camp. I'm old and she still has another chance to make some kids happy. Oh, and she could out sail Catalina 27s on most any day...

That's a nice clean looking boat! Love the cabin setup and that little folding door! That kitchen area looks very nice and neat, is that a pressurized alcohol stove? Cushions look like they're in great shape, looks like the previous owner loved her. Hope you keep the earthy green!

Yeah, you're right, everything has to be tweaked. lol I'm definitely a subscriber to the "if it ain't broke- fix it till it is!" mantra šŸ¤£ Sometimes I wish I could just leave things alone.. lol
You could always color coordinate with the hull or, better yet, do something really unique all of your own instead. Your boat is like your own island so making it personalized is really important I think vs what people more typically do and theme everything as though resale is all that matters. Even if you don't keep the green, just having the cushions and the pattern for the covers is really nice vs starting from scratch! My old starchief had a really nice feature where the cushions were vinyl on one side and soft fabric on the other. Was great to choose one or the other depending on conditions like wet clothes.

well the paint looks to be ok, i will pressure wash it and then put a coat of wax or something to brighten it up.

I used to sail a little on Lake Saint Claire with a bud in an O'day 22. Nice sailing boat, seemed pretty easy to handle.

Congrats!

well its either shoal keel with ctbrd , shoal keel or swing keel. reviews for this have different aspects and different opinions on it. some say there is no ctbrd, and others say yes. very confusing for sure. will check when it gets home and let you know what my findings are....

I think there was a change somewhere in the late 70s on that boat. Early models were a shoal keel, but later models (and I think '82 would be) had a keel/centerboard.

Does not look like there a place for a center board or swing keel.----Cabin sole look like fixed keel to me.----And I have sailed on many different boats.----From a Laser to 62 foot ( 55,000 lb ) go anywhere in the world type of boat.
