Please elaborate. I am not sure what else there is to base policy on . . .

Don’t like anyone from either of the parties, and no patriotic American would, either.

Nothing like going out of the year on a good troll.
:D

Re: My favorite Democrat. ( Troll)

I tend to feel that while voting, I am merely trying to choose the lesser of two evils. I dont follow one particular party, but analyze the stance of each one, choose the issues I feel are most important, and base my desicion by which set of ideals most closely resembles mine on those issues..............I know most of you on this forum think that is a weak stance, but I don't.

.Pony.,

I don't think most would think that is weak, although I have posted directly that I think it is weak. To be clear I would not say weak as in a personality trait, just as a measure of the power of your vote. I actually think it shows that you are a thinker and that you take your vote seriously.

I posted recently that there are two parties, the wrong one and the stupid one, I vote with the stupid one almost 100% because the wrong one is interested in changing this country, the stupid one will probably leave it close to how they find it ;)

Another quick clarification, I am not talking about personalities here, just the parties . . .

My favorite is also Lieberman. He is honest in everything he does, regardless of what others think of him.
He also puts God first.

Me, too. That’s why I select a candidate based on what their wife looks like. Whoever snagged the best lookin’ babe gets my vote.

Re: My favorite Democrat. ( Troll)

My grandmother always told me dont vote for them republicans, then she would launch into what them carpetbaggers done to us after the civil war. Well I listened and was a good little democrat till I got old enough to vote. Now what did the dems have to offer that year, Hubert H Humpry. No sale. When I finaly got a canidate it was Jimmy Carter, but I had been listning to Ragans radio program for a couple of years then. I didnt vote for him, but Im with JB there he was a man of integrity, he just couldnt get anything done with his own congress. Then the Iatola(sp) just as well as killed him. When all is said and done I am a conservative Democrat. On the local level here you vote demo, or you dont vote. No opposition. I guess im probably an independent With my voting record all over the place.
It has in recent years been my poilicy to try to vote out the incumbents

Kinna contradictory here at the last , maby I dont know what I am.

By JB: "That prosperity, PW2, was the legacy of Reagan and GHW Bush. The mess we were in by 2000 was the legacy of President Clinton."

Be very, very careful with that statement, because someone will be inheriting a "unique" situation in 08, and no one will be able to blame anyone but who has run the show for that prior 8 years...You can't blame the dems, as FUBAR as they can be, forever....

BTW, the prosperity seen in the 90s had nothing to do with who was in office. It had everything to do with the people who created the technologies and implemented them. A stump could have been in the Whitehouse and the same thing would have happened. It is never wise to take credit for good and pass the bad onto someone else, which is a righty tactic that is easily seen through...

Nice try though... :)

Hmmmmm. Are you old enough to remember the 70s, Jason? We were a second class country with little pride and no respect. Inflation was in double digits, interest rates were in the mid-teens and unemployment was near 10% when Reagan took over.

Reagan and GHW Bush restored this country and set the foundation for the 90s. They cut taxes (until GHWB was flummoxed by the Dems), won the Cold War and gave us back pride and respect.

Clinton is one smart cookie, I will admit. He rode the wave, passed the largest tax increase in our history and then laid a minefield for GWB to take on.

If you think we are in trouble now you have a short memory and little understanding of late 20th century history.

JB, you are one smart man. That is why i am so surprised that Jimmy Carter is your favorite Dem. If it's because he does seem to be a "good man", I am fine with that, cause I agree, he's a good person. But to cite that he doesn't attack the current president, is wrong. He's done that. No, he didn't call him "evil", but he outright disagreed with his policies, on national TV. And I was a little young, but did Richard Nixon or Gerald Ford do that to him?

From JasonJ:
Uuumm, ok Jason, I'll say I agree with you, as long as you make that statement "the late nineties". Because it seems that we basically did have a stump in the White House. One getting his !@#$ sucked instead of leading a country. Fact, not fiction, and anyone who defends him or excuses that, is garbage. :p
Happy New Year. :D

Gosh I love troll threads!

So, no one,(especially an ex-president), is allowed to publicly diagree with the incumbent president even when that incumbent is a horses patoot?.....I always find it funny how everyone forgets who was minding the store when the stock market crashed in the late 80's.....JK

Re: My favorite Democrat. ( Troll)

I can accept that a Democratic former President has an obligation to his party to criticise a Republican President. To critique and to attack are different things. That is a 2 way street.

What I like about Carter is that he is out doing stuff that other Dems want other folks to do. He represents the best of liberalism in his behavior.

I believe Joe Lieberman is sincere. Maybe that is because he always looks and sounds as if he is about to burst into tears.

Now that is one of the most inane things that I have heard coming from your critical thinking mind PW. From what other perspective should one in power make decisions, huh?

I can't believe a person as sage as yourself and steeped in historical understanding would say this. It has been a long standing and unstated custom that past presidents stay out of current presidental politics. Pro or con.

Both Jimmme and Bubba are unrepentant egotists. They should take a lessen from GHWB.

Re: My favorite Democrat. ( Troll)

Jb I do remember the 70ties very well.I remember a country that was in shock for not winning a war,but instead being in a financial shambles because of the cost of that war and because Japan had taken the lead in industry and car production while we wallowed in narcissism.I loved Ford for being a healer and Carter for his integrity. Both played the roles the country needed after Vietnam.Reagan put the dare devil back in our spine and played poker with Russia. We won,but just barely.
George senior was the perfect civil servant who really believed in serving the people.Clinton rode the wave of a great new technology with a vengeance and it went right up to his head(no pun intended).Bush inherited an imploded soap bubble of dot coms and the hangover of the millenium party. So far he does not shine.
