As time goes along and you find that your mileage is dropping might want to check those spaces and just how much stuff ya got in there ;)
Not much further that the mileage can drop . . . . :ROFLMAO:

There is a CY 328/338 owners (emotional support) group on FB. Some good ideas from the folks that own these boats. . . Lots of weight-saving ideas coming up lately.

One of them being the 7 batteries (31M-AGM) @ 72 lbs. each. Converting to LiFePO and reducing the number of inverter batteries saves about 400 lbs.

Another one is a lighter alternative to the tables, which weigh about 40 lbs each.

It's a good thing that Cruisers Yacht does not make airplanes . . . :ROFLMAO:

Teds got contraband storage now........ next thing you know he will be running between the keys and cuba at night.....
or like the rum runners who ran between Long Island and New England during the Prohibition. That boat is from Long Island ya know lol! The crossing between where I live and Stamford is only about 10 miles.......

sounds like a challenge.......

put the trim tabs down to full, put the drives up to the limits and ride on the edge of the hole and watch your fuel burn rate peek.

. . . and the hits just keep on coming . . .

I went to install some additional lighting in the enclosed head, since it has no natural light and only 1 measly dome light. I second dome light installed and wired up. I had a PIR switch that I was going to use to automatically turn the lights on when someone opened the door to the head.

Got it all hooked up . . . the PIR switch is defective . . .

It seems that all of these 12volt DC PIR devices are made in China and the quality/reliability is terrible.

I tried searching for a more reputable source, but have not found anything yet.

Could be worst, I just bought a claw anchor to replace the plow for my new boat, then found out it won't fit. Should have checked measurements before purchase then after :poop:

Variation in voltage is not friendly to motion sensors. I had a security light on my home and any time the well pump kicked in the light would come on.. I think a cap would be helpful to smooth things out but that's just a guess..

I was wondering that too. The cabin voltage is pretty steady, but does go up and down over time as the batteries charge and get used.

I ordered another PIR switch and we will see if it works. I've also found another type/brand that appears to be more robust, if I need to get yet another one. We shall see.

One of the challenges (for me) is putting the modifications where there is wiring in the boat. In the head, most of the wiring is in the cabinet. Nothing along the outside wall, so triggering via the door is a bit more challenging. But if need be, that's where I will go with a micro-switch.

OK . . . I am not skilled at PIR switches. But maybe the head enclosure is too small. I tried a second PIR with the same results. (Just goes on and never goes off) So, either I don't know what I'm doing (it's happened :ROFLMAO: ), or it is just not the right technology.

I may go with a more basic approach and put an illuminated rocker switch in place of the plain switch. That way, if someone goes into the head, closes the door, only to be in pitch black, they will see the light switch. :geek:

In other news, Since I suck at electricity, I tried my hand at some plumbing

The transom shower has only a cold water feed, which seems unusual. I wanted to have some warm water at the transom for folks who rinse off after swimming. The transom shower only has 1 inlet feed to it. So, I got a 'thermostatic mixing valve' and ran both cold & hot water feed to it, then onto the transom shower. The mixing valve has a temperature setting, which I set to 95ĖšF. Here is my handy work . . .

The piping is 15mm PEX and the fittings are Whale 'Quick Connect', which I am not a fan of.

I turned the water system on and it was nothing but leaks. šŸ˜« Looks like I got to check all the fittings for proper assembly, etc.

Plumbing looks good and agree those fittings are bad news. Changed all the ones that leaked on the cruiser to compression. If I had to do over again I would use Reg PEX clamps and sharkbite if needed

I think the boat manufacturers like the stuff, since it is quick . . .

Ted, Plastic should not be used on boats, in an RV, near an engine......

with that stated, as AD stated, head to Lowes and get some sharkbite.

I will be replumbing the year old RV because all the PEX is starting to leak (the plastic fittings are extruding ) having my hydraulic shop make up braided teflon hose with stainless fittings.

That is what Cruiser Yacht used/uses. So, I had to follow suit, otherwise re-plumb the entire boat (which I am not doing, as it would be nearly impossible) o_O

My Formula had the PEX as well, but is was the more household PEX pipe & fittings, not this quick connect stuff.

Does your PIR have any adjustment? Maybe you could dial down the sensitivity..
