2001 yamaha 130 v4 2 stroke. Want to install either the analog tachometer with oil and temp warning and trim position indicator all in 1 or the digital version of the multi tach. Using a 704 binnacle remote with a separate key switch. Also using a remote 11 quart oil tank. Under the hood next to the 10 pin connector are these 2 plugs. Are these for the tach and power trim display? How does the tach get signaled of overheat or low oil? Thanks

No analog tachometer that I know of that is all in one. Separate trim meter needed.

That Yamaha analog tachometer looks like it is made for a four stroke Yamaha. Reason being is that there are only two lights. One for over temperature and one for low oil pressure. A Yamaha analog tachometer for a two stroke has three lights. One for over temperature, one for a low remote oil tank and one for a low main oil tank.

The multi-function digital display tachometer is intended for a 2005 and later model Yamaha. Reason being that it has only one four pin connector. It can be used with 2004 and earlier Yamaha models but an interface harness is needed to go from two connectors on the trim/oil harness to the one connector on the tachometer.

Thank you that is very helpful. So I need a trim oil harness with 2 plugs on both ends and the interface harness to use the digital tach. How does. Rpm get handled. It's not in either of the 2 trim oil harness?

I don't see orange wire on engine side wiring.

RPM is sent to the tachometer in the ten pin harness. Via a green wire. See the diagram again.

Ok I think I get it now. The green wire from key switch panel goes to the tach for tach signal after being carried via 10 pin harness to the switch . Sounds better to me now if that's correct .

The colours may not be correct. Are you perhaps talking about the yellow wire?
I don't know. There are several wires there. I assumed green but I could be wrong. Also is a trim sender standard Equipment on the 2001 yamaha 130 v4? I have a 1999 version in my garage and I don't see any trim sender wires coming out of the hole in the bracket where the main power trim motor wires are

Orange is a Yamaha colour typically for five volts. The multi-function tachometer outputs the five volts that are needed for a three wire trim sender.

Trim sender was on the motor when it left Japan.

Still wrestling with this but getting closer. The wires under the hood have the following pictured connections. Do I need a oil and trim harness to plug into these? Neither of the 2 connectors have the normal green for trim down blue for trim up. Does this look right to you.
Also pictured is the tach I think will work . It has the 2 square white plugs to go into the oil and trim harness from engine to guage.

The word "trim" in the "trim/oil" harness refers to the trim indication on the tachometer.

The sky blue up trim wire and the grass green down trim wire that provide power to the trim pump motor are contained within the ten pin harness. See the diagram in post #2 above.

The tachometer looks correct.

Two connectors on the motor, two connectors at each end of the trim/oil harness, two connectors on the tachometer. It is plug and play. See the diagram in post #2 above.

The only thing that doesn't make sense to me is that in the diagram it shows colors yellow, blue, black, green going into the tach (bullet connections). My colors from the bullet connectors of my external key switch are yellow, red, black, green. I ordered a dual fuse harness for guages and the one end matches the colors of the wires from the key switch. Here's pics of.what I'm referring to

The tachometer does not use the red wire.

The blue wire is only used if and when an optional on/off switch is for the tachometer internal lighting.
