Re: Motor year??

When your right your right, sorry my bad

Kjeremy2 - You mentioned what it would take to replace the parts in the outdrive but did not mention why those parts were missing to begin with. Don't know how you came about the boat but you might want to make a list of what all the needs are, and what it will take to fix tem. Take that list and add up all the cost to bring it up to speed. You may find it would be best to walk away

Either way iboats will be here to help

So far the motor seems to be intact just a few things that are left to be hooked up. i aquired this boat from a guy that was restoring it and got this far and was too busy to finish as far as i can tell if i don't buy an upper unit for the outdrive and rebuild mine it should cost about a thousand with the major and little things it needs now? i had another boat that had nothing and i walked away after i found out the guy who sold it too me knew it was stolen and sold it anyways so that was my loss. but the fuel line and some bolts are missing the throttle and steering are there just not hooked up and thats as far as i can tell what it needs other than the things mentioned in this post.

Re: Motor year??

Looks like I also need to add, the white thing you previously mentioned is not the fuel filter, it's the oil filter. You would have a fuel line going from the tank to the fuel pump (barbed fitting). Then there would be a metal line going from the other side of the fuel pump to the carb. Your fuel filter is part of the fuel pump. It is item 1 and part number 8M0073435

Re: Motor year??

What exactly do you have for an outdrive?

Ayuh,... For reference, Look here,...

You oughta be seein' whether the motor runs or not 1st,... No outdrive needed,.....

Jam a hose into the hole in the bellhousin',...
Or,...
Plumb in yer garden hose to the t-stat housin' where the in-comin' water line is,...

Pull the distributor cap, 'n check, 'n clean the points,...

Hook up the wirin', starter, 'n ignition is enough to light it off,...

Splash alittle gas down the carb, 'n see if she'll light,...

What's the oil look like,..?? what level on the stick,..??

Re: Motor year??

That looks like a fuel water separator. It is hard to tell. Where do the the lines run to?

Re: Motor year??

the thick one comes out of the underneath threw the wall in front of the motor and the thin one that comes off the top of that filter thing goes to nothing its unhooked but very short. by the length I'm guessing it goes in the front or side of the motor. all of these filters are spin ons correct? gonna be ordering them within the next week along with the fuel lines.

It sounds like the fuel water separator. The only thing that comes from this area is fuel from the fuel tank under the floor. The oil filter and fuel filter/separator are both spin on types normally.

Re: Motor year??

No, that is not the pump. The pump is the thing on the side of the motor.

Re: Motor year??

There are 2 lines that should go to the carb. 1 is the inlet to the carb and the 2nd is the clear tube in case the diaphragm ruptures.

I seen it when I looked over his link to photobucket. There was a red sticker with the number. the number is to old to run the number, that is why I showed it in the links like I did.:)

Re: Motor year??

In one of the photos in the link above you showed a serial number of 3252209. Looking up that number in the parts catalog serial number range shows this engine/drive combo should be in the 1972-77 range. I believe your engine model is closer to the 1970 range like in the third link. Hope this helps, good luck.

Something is not adding up to me. I also make that serial number as pre 1975 but I don't believe that they were using the term 3.0L back then??
