Re: Motor will not start

hey guys whats up, been out of service for a while. want to find out on one item concerning the reed valves. went to libary found old repair manule and one topic on "hard starting, or no start" trouble shooting listed subject on the reed valves. i did pull the manifold and looked at them-and found no apparent issues, bent, stuck, corrioded. (sorry bout spelling) did remove both of them and fipped them and re-installed, want to make sure this is ok to do. other than that just picking up where we left off.

Re: Motor will not start

you shouldnt have touched them .... - at all it can throw themout of alignment which will further your starting problems put it back where it was and dont mess with em again might spray a little carb cleaner on em if you thikn theyre dirty but you should NEVER touch a reed valve unless you want to end up replacing the whole cage....

its just my opinion but i think you sheared the keyway on the flywheel when you put it back on its pretty easy to do... thats the only way it woulndt start - youve been over and over everything else twice already
just pull the flywheel and replace the keyway if nothing else -its a 5 buck fix.....

will keep that on top of list on the valves. as for the key its not broke, bent, or disformed in any way and the keyway on the fw has a good grove top to bottom. will go ahead and replace it as u said its one of the cheapest parts to replace. will get back on the out come this weekend leaving shortly to go get granddaughter for the summer stay talk to yall later.

Re: Motor will not start

to all, this might be my last few posts here for this issue. have started searching for a shop who works on older motors to take to. have come to the last leg. did pull fw again and cked key and kway on fw. no prbs fnd, also got the new fp in and is for sure pumping fuel now but no turn over. just a shot in the dark, could i have screwed up the fw magnets cleaning off the rust build up with a wire wheel, or from the build getting there in the first place. like i said this is just a shot in the dark. and to add--- any more info about the reed valves a couple posts back on what i did. the really sorry thing is i got this sicking feeling the prob. is stearing me in the face and about to bite me in the A_ _!. but to all who have replied so far thanks for ur time and input.
